My Hero Academia

A new My Hero Academia movie is on the way. MHA creator Kohei Horikoshi released chapter 396 of the manga in the recent issue of Shonen Jump, and the fourth movie was officially announced alongside it. Other movies in the franchise include Two HeroesHeroes Rising, and World Heroes’ Mission (via Final Weapon).

My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi announced a fourth movie is in the works, and will be set after the events of the anime’s sixth season.

The plot and release date of the fourth My Hero Academia movie has not yet been revealed, but it has been confirmed that it will be produced by Bones and animated by TOHO Animation. As with the other films, it seems likely that there will be a theatrical release as well. The movie won’t be adapted from the manga and will be an original story that takes place within the anime’s timeline.

Along with the upcoming My Hero Academia movie, the seventh season of the anime is also currently in production. There is no official release date for the seventh season of the anime, but it will likely come out sometime in Spring 2024. The anime will continue to adapt the manga and will introduce the highly-anticipated American hero Star and Stripe, who was briefly teased at the very end of the sixth season.

My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission, the last film in the franchise, made an incredible $47 million during its theaterical run.

My Hero Academia follows Izuku Midoriya, who is a non-superpowered anomaly in a world where the majority of the population is born with superpowers known as Quirks. After Midoriya is granted the Quirk One-for-All by the #1 hero All-Might, he is admitted into one of the most prestigious hero academies in Japan. All episodes of the sixth season of the anime are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.

My Hero Academia

The most recent season of My Hero Academia saw the Paranormal Liberation War Arc and the Dark Hero Arc from the manga adapted. These intense arcs saw the Heroes taking on the Paranormal Liberation Army and the villainous Shigaraki achieving a terrifying new level of power. However, Midoriya, hero Deku, unlocked new powers of his own and worked with All Might and the Top 3 Heroes to hunt down the remnants of the League of Villains.

My Hero Academia Season 7 has no release date, but it will adapt the Star and Stripe arc, the UA Traitor arc, and potentially part of the Final Battle saga.

The manga for My Hero Academia is currently wrapping up the story’s final arc, so we likely won’t have too many more seasons of the anime to look forward to. It seems likely that the Star and Stripe arc of the manga, along with the UA Traitor arc, will be adapted in the upcoming seventh season. Both arcs only make up 15 chapters of the manga, which would be roughly five or six episodes of the anime.

Fortunately, the ongoing Final War arc has over 50 chapters and counting, so the My Hero Academia anime won’t be ending right away. It’s likely that we’ll see the seventh season begin to adapt the final arc of the manga before ending at a good stopping point. This will allow Horikoshi time to finish the manga before the rest of it is adapted.

If these estimates are right, that means we can likely expect My Hero Academia to end in its eighth season, depending on how many more chapters Horikoshi writes. For now, you can stream the previous seasons on Crunchyroll. We’ll keep you updated on the upcoming movie’s release date and the Season 7 release date.
