“Just accept who you are…the bad guy,” said Matt Smith’s character in the trailer showcasing the upcoming action film, Morbius. The final trailer was just released by Sony Pictures Entertainment and the film is set to release in theaters in the USA starting April 1. If we all thought that the vampire craze when Twilight was released was officially over, then we might need to think again. Morbius follows the story of a character who develops a form of vampirism, with Matt Smith starring as the main villain. The trailer had a very dark tone, and with a list of amazing actors that are a part of the project, it seems this upcoming film is actually going to be quite entertaining. 

The premise of Morbius follows the main character, Michael Morbius, played by Jared Leto. Morbius is a biochemist who has a very rare blood disease. In an attempt to cure himself of the disease, something goes wrong, causing Morbius to develop a form of vampirism. Matt Smith plays the antagonist in the movie. Smith plays the character of Loxias Crown. Other top stars in the film are Michael Keaton, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson, and Adria Arjona. The trailer gave a great glimpse of all the characters, with Matt Smith making a grand and dramatic appearance towards the end. According to Marvel, the film is directed by Daniel Espinosa. Morbius is based on a Marvel Comic and character of the same name. Fans seem to be in full support of Matt Smith taking on the villain in the upcoming film, and some have even jumped onto Twitter to share their support for Smith’s new role. One Twitter user believed that Matt Smith stole the show with his grand appearance in the trailer. Smith does take his roles and characters very seriously, and can easily portray any range of acting. 

Another Twitter user believed that Matt Smith never disappoints in the roles that he takes. And Smith has definitely taken on a large number in the course of his career thus far. 

Matt Smith has had amazing roles in his career, and even played the iconic role of The Doctor in the BBC series, Doctor Who. Smith was also cast to play Prince Phillip in the successful and award-winning Netflix series, The Crown. Smith is able to portray various characters, and playing a villain is a new step for him in his acting career. 

According to CBR, the release date for Morbius, starring Matt Smith and Jared Leto, has been postponed multiple times due to the pandemic. Initially, it seems the initial release date was supposed to be in 2020, but is now set to release in theaters nationwide in the USA starting April 1. Morbius is another film based on a successful Marvel comic, and the premise revolving around vampires seems to be a very unique idea. We might have thought vampires were out of popularity, but very soon, they will be back on the big screen.
