For a long time, fans of the Netflix Marvel shows were afraid the characters weren’t going to get folded into the MCU after Disney+ started taking over the Marvel TV shows. Fortunately, their concerns have been addressed, and we’ve seen a couple of character appearances from arguably the most beloved Netflix Marvel series, Daredevil. Now it looks like we’ll get more of those characters in the upcoming Echo show.

A resume leak for a costume designer on Echo revealed Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox on the list of actors, alongside lead Alaqua Cox. This means Daredevil and Kingpin are likely coming back for another appearance. This makes perfect sense for their next appearances since Echo is a spin-off based on the character from Marvel and Disney’s Hawkeye series. In the final episodes of Hawkeye’s first season, Echo was revealed to be the niece of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. Kingpin also appeared in the show and faced off against Kate Bishop. The last time we saw Kingpin, it appeared that he was shot dead by Echo, but the camera panned away, so his fate is up in the air.

Of course, Kingpin was a major antagonist for Matt Murdock in multiple seasons of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil. If Echo is taking place in New York, it makes sense that Daredevil would cross paths with his nemesis. Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock made his grand re-entrance to the MCU around the same time as Kingpin. He had a brief cameo as Peter Parker’s lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This cameo was met with cheers and hollers from fans in theaters, so clearly the demand is there for more Daredevil.

Marvel also seemingly confirmed that the Matt Murdock that appeared in the Spider-Man threequel was the same one we met on the Marvel Netflix shows, so the continuity for the characters is there. Fortunately for fans who aren’t up to date with their stories, the Netflix shows have made their jump to Disney+ in all their uncensored glory. Daredevil in particular has some of the best fight choreography in the MCU. The other shows that jumped over are Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the Avengers-style team-up Defenders. Though we haven’t seen any characters from the other shows yet, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel found a way to bring them back.

There isn’t much information about Echo yet, so even little snippets like these give us a lot more insight into the directions the show might go. Even on the IMDb page, the only official information listed at this time is Alaqua Cox’s return as Echo/Maya Lopez. Presumably, it will pick up relatively shortly after the events of Hawkeye. It is a Marvel show though, so there are bound to leak leading up to the first season. Until then, checking out Daredevil will be a great way to prep for seeing Matt Murdock and Kingpin again. Of course, make sure to check out Hawkeye too if you want to get the full context for Echo’s character. They’re both streaming in their entirety on Disney+.
