The rumors that Kevin Bacon is secretly going to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been flying around for a while now, but now there is an eyewitness. As we previously reported, there has been some word of the star of The Air Up There and Hollow Man appearing in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie for quite some time. For one thing, Bacon has already worked with James Gunn in his pre-MCU superhero movie Super (well, it’s kind of a superhero movie, if you count Rainn Wilson beating people to death with a tire iron as heroic). For another, the first Guardians of the Galaxy had Peter Quill/Star-Lord reverently describing Bacon and his sweet dance moves from Footloose in terms of a legendary feat. So when a Redditor with the handle of  u/CassandraOracle stated that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was filming near her and Kevin Bacon might be there, fans perked up.

According to u/CassandraOracle, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 production (which was filming somewhere near Atlanta, a very popular location for shoots) had dressed up a street to look like Beverly Hills and there seemed to be indications that the scene was set during Christmas. Police vehicles on set were also “retro” and indicated that the scene might be set during the 1990s, as did the style of Christmas decorations. She personally attested to seeing Dave Bautista/Drax the Destroyer’s stunt double Gary Peebles on set, and apparently, there were rumors that Kevin Bacon was also present. Now, as with all things on Reddit, this should be taken with some caution and maybe a whole bucketful of salt, but this all sounds promising.

While Kevin Bacon might be showing up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in some capacity (remember that brief cameo by David Hasselhoff in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), it also seems a strong possibility that this could be related to the upcoming The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. That project is also set to be directed by James Gunn and will premiere on Disney+ as what Gunn called “TV special feature-length” rather than an entire feature-length theatrical film. He also stated that it would take place chronologically between Taiki Watiti’s Thor: Love and Thunder and the third Guardians movie, so it could be acting as a ramp-up to whatever space adventures Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and the voices of a number of famous people get up to.

Given the Christmas setting as described on Reddit, we are going to go ahead and make a prediction: Kevin Bacon will be playing the MCU’s version of Santa Claus. And if he’s not doing that, it feels like there is a good chance that he will be showing up as some version of himself, and an extremely good chance that he may do some kind of dance with Star-Lord. After all, Kevin Bacon had already said he’s up for an MCU appearance, has already shown up to ham up in comic-book movies, and he is definitely not above throwing out those slick moves when he wants to.
