Jennifer Lopez Wishes She Had Done More Action Movies When She Was Younger
Jennifer Lopez joked on The View that she should have done more action movies when she was younger.
Jennifer Lopez, the 53-year-old actress, singer, and dancer looks better than ever as her new action thriller movie The Mother is about to be released on Netflix. Despite being in impeccable shape, she told the hosts of the ABC talk show The View, “I wish I had gotten these types of roles . . . when I was a little bit more, you know, spry. But a little bit, you know, younger.”
While Jennifer Lopez has starred in some action movies like 2002’s Enough and 1997’s Anaconda, they don’t hold a candle to training for her upcoming performance in The Mother. To prepare for her assassin role in the new movie, she explained that she had to train a lot to prepare for the fight scenes and to learn how to handle a sniper rifle. She shared that “It was a lot of work, but it was a lot of work.”
It may have been easier for Jennifer Lopez to train for her role when she was in her 20s or 30s, but she makes it look easy for someone who is in her 50s. Similarly, she went through lots of training and practice to perform the incredible pole dancing scenes in the 2019 crime drama Hustlers. In addition to starring in Hustlers as Ramona, she also produced the film.
In her younger days, Jennifer Lopez starred in more drama and romance films, like Maid in Manhattan, Selena, and The Wedding Planner. She also had a small role alongside now-husband Ben Affleck in the 2004 drama Jersey Girl. After dating and being briefly engaged in the early 2000s, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have now been happily married since they tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022.
Jennifer Lopez’s new movie The Mother will be available to stream on Netflix on May 12, 2023. The film follows Jennifer Lopez as a trained assassin who must come out of hiding to protect her daughter who she had to leave earlier in life. Audiences can expect to see plenty of action and bloodshed from this film produced by Jennifer Lopez herself, and fellow co-stars Gael García Bernal and Paul Raci.
This will be the 27th project that Jennifer Lopez has produced. Her other productions include The Boy Next Door, Shades of Blue, and World of Dance, among many others. In the near future, Jennifer Lopez will release two more films that she has produced and starred in, the sci-fi action film Atlas and a story about the late drug lord Griselda Blanco, The Godmother.
In 2022, Jennifer Lopez produced and starred in the Amazon Prime movie Shotgun Wedding which was packed with action, adventure, and romance. The stunning actress starred alongside Josh Duhamel, Lenny Kravitz, and Jennifer Coolidge as a bride whose entire wedding party gets taken hostage during her destination wedding. It becomes her and her groom’s responsibility to save their wedding guests as they battle against villains and ultimately themselves.
