Harrison Ford is no stranger to iconic roles. The actor has brought us Han Solo and Indiana Jones, after all. But what if he’d taken on the role of James Bond? In his heydey, Ford certainly had the charismatic 007 looks. As he is now 78 years old, the odds of him becoming James Bond seem low, but what if he had? This is the kind of fan question we now have the ability to answer for ourselves. YouTuber stryder HD has created a four and a half minute deepfake video that shows us exactly what Ford would have looked like in the role.

The deepfake video uses footage from Daniel Craig’s time as 007 and changes the footage to show Harrison Ford in the role. The footage is convincing, and one can even see the differences in how Ford might have played the character. For example, Daniel Craig has famously been a more gritty version of Bond. Ford is an actor known for a softer charisma he would have brought to James Bond, had he ever taken on the role. The deepfake technology here also clearly uses a younger version of Harrison Ford, whose face is airbrushed to be wrinkle-free. The montage shows him looking younger than Daniel Craig in the role, as Craig is currently 52-years-old.

One of the things that makes this particular deepfake so appealing is the variety of scenes it shows. The montage of course includes Harrison Ford getting the chance to say, “Bond, James Bond”. It shows him in gritty scenes, emotional scenes, in bed, and in action. The montage is enough to make fans of Ford and James Bond a touch regretful that he never took on the role.

And why didn’t he? Fans who follow the James Bond franchise may find this question amusing, only because so many actors are often considered for the role. Every time it’s announced we will have a new Bond, there is a long list of actors considered. Traditionally, Bond is played by lesser-known actors, and naturally, by European actors, a count against Ford’s chance of ever having taken on the role.

Today, we have one more James Bond movie coming with Daniel Craig in the role. After that, while it’s extremely unlikely to be Harrison Ford, there are plenty of other contenders. Fans have discussed actors like Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page, Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and many more. It will likely be a while before MGM makes any announcements on the next 007, or at least until the next Bond film, No Time to Die comes out, so the list will only continue to grow.

As for Harrison Ford, he will soon be working on Indiana Jones 5. Filming has been delayed due to the pandemic, but the movie is still on Disney’s upcoming slate. This is a big feat at 78-years-old, but Ford sounds passionate about playing the character again. He hasn’t shown signs of slowing down yet. In recent years, he’s again played Han Solo in Star Wars, played Deckard in Blade Runner 2049, and starred in The Call of the Wild. Reportedly, Indiana Jones 5 will be his last movie for the franchise, and is currently set for a July 2022 release.
