Gal Gadot has starred in some pretty great blockbusters over the year, but every now and then, she’ll have a miss. This could be considered the case with her 2022 film Death on the Nile, which was relatively entertaining but got mixed reviews overall. If you’re interested in checking this one out for yourself, it’s currently streaming on both Hulu and Max.

Gal Gadot stars as Linnet “Linny” Ridgeway-Doyle, a wealthy heiress in Death on the Nile, which is an adaptation of the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh and adapted by Michael Green, with Branagh also starring as Hercule Poirot after playing the role in 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express.

As you might be able to guess from the Agatha Christie source material and the name of the movie, the film is a good old-fashioned murder mystery set on a Nile River cruise.

Along with Gal Gadot and Branagh, Death on the Nile stars Tom Bateman reprising his role as Bouc, alongside Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.

Despite the middling reviews that the movie received, it didn’t do terribly at the box office and managed to pull in $137.3 million at the global box office against a budget of $90 million.

Apparently, these box office returns were enough to entice Disney and 20th Century Studios to greenlight another sequel, though Gal Gadot won’t be returning, of course. Similar to the Knives Out films, Branagh will once again return as Hercule Poirot to investigate a murder with a brand new cast in the upcoming sequel to Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.

The upcoming sequel will be an adaption of the Christie novel Halloween Party and be called A Haunting in Venice.

A Haunting in Venice is set to come out on September 15, so now is as good of a time as any to check out Gal Gadot and Kenneth Branagh in Death on the Nile. The films do dive a little bit into Hercule Poroit’s history and backstory, so it’s worth checking out the previous two films if you want to be fully caught up and have all the context. Hopefully, A Haunting in Venice will end up being the best film yet out of the trilogy.

Branagh will once again return to direct and star in A Haunting in Venice, and the cast is solid, too, with Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Michelle Yeoh, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, and Jude Hill lined up to star. While Death on the Nile did get middling reviews, your results may vary, and you might enjoy the film regardless.

Gal Gadot’s performance and Kenneth Branagh’s anchoring role as Poroit certainly help the film along and ensure it’s entertaining, at the very least. While we shouldn’t expect to see Gal Gadot in the upcoming sequel to Death on the Nile, we can look forward to some of her other upcoming projects.

The next project we should see from her is Heart of Stone, which comes out on Netflix on August 11 and sees Gadot playing an intelligence operative trying to stop a dangerous hacker. The film is directed by Tom Harper and also stars Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt.

Meanwhile, if you’re not in the mood to stream Gal Gadot’s Death on the Nile, you can see her on the big screen right now in Fast X.

Fast X is the first of a two-part capper to the Fast & Furious franchise and also stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron. Gadot also makes a cameo appearance in some recent DC films.

The only other official release date for any of Gal Gadot’s upcoming projects is Disney’s live-action adaption of Snow White, which is expected to come out on March 22, 2024.

The film will be directed by Marc Webb and star Gadot as the Evil Queen and Rachel Zegler in the titular role. While we wait for Heart of Stone and Snow White to come out, make sure to check out Death on the Nile on Hulu or Max if you missed it when it first came out.
