The upcoming Ms. Marvel tv series by Marvel Studios, which was first announced back in 2019 at D23 along with She-Hulk and Moon Knight, will introduce the first Muslim superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show will star newcomer Iman Vellani, a Pakistani- American-Muslim teenager, as the fan-favorite hero from the comics. If you thought that Marvel had been keeping mum about introducing their latest superhero, then scroll below to find new set photos presenting the first proper look at Kamala Khan’s badass superhero costume!

Twitter handle, @therealsupes, recently shared two pictures from the set of Ms. Marvel as it continues shooting with the young star in Atlanta, Georgia. Though the images are a little grainy, they offer us our first look at Vellani’s superhero suit, which is all kinds of perfect starting from the emblem on her chest, the red scarf around her neck, to the bracelet on her left wrist. Recently Marvel Studios has been churning out amazing comic accurate superhero costumes- Wanda’s Scarlet Witch costume in WandaVision and Sam Wilson’s recently revealed new Captain America suit in the finale of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The set photos prove that they are continuing the trend with Ms. Marvel as well.

More set photos have also been published by Just Jared where Vellani’s Kamala Khan is seen filming scenes with her Ms. Marvel co-star Rish Shah, who is playing Kamran, an Inhuman.

The news of Iman Vellani’s casting as the titular character the Disney+ series was confirmed by Kevin Feige during the annual Disney Investor Day last year. While the character will be introduced via the Disney+ series, she will be later integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ms. Marvel is produced by Marvel Studios with Bisha K. Ali as head-writer and creator. The hit Bad Boys for Life’s directors Adil El Arbi and Bila will be directing a few episodes of the show. Meera Menon, who has directed episodes of Titans and Marvel’s The Punisher in the past, will also be directing a few episodes of the series along with multiple Oscar and Emmy-winning Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Sana Amanat, who is Kamala Khan’s co-creator, has also joined the project as an executive producer.

Apart from Iman Vellani starring as Kamala Khan, the cast of Ms. Marvel also includes Saagar Shaikh, Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur while Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azher Usman, Alyy Khan, Alysia Reiner, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha have been cast in yet to be disclosed roles.

Though reports had cropped up that Ms. Marvel was about to conclude filming, the set photos reveal that the series is still being shot in Georgia. While Kevin Feige had confirmed that the Disney+ series will set up Captain Marvel 2, it is yet to be confirmed whether Iman Vellani’s Kamala will be joining Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel in the film as well or not. Currently, Ms. Marvel is scheduled to release sometime in late 2021 as part of MCU’s Phase Four.
