Exclusive: Alien Vs Predator Movie In Development For Hulu, Plot Details Revealed
The Predator and Alien franchises are going through a resurgence, and we can now report that an Alien vs Predator movie is being worked on for Hulu.
There seems to be a resurgence of Alien and Predator stories happening currently. This was kicked off by Prey, which has been an amazing prequel and reboot of the Predator franchise. Also, we had reported that Ridley Scott was going to be working on a new Alien series for Hulu, which is set in space. There is another Alien series being developed by Noah Hawley, which takes place on earth, and is going to premiere for FX on Hulu. This led to the speculation if both franchises would meet again. Well, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that a new Alien vs Predator movie is in development for Hulu. Hulu seems to be the premiere place for these popular science fiction franchises.
We don’t know if this new Alien vs Predator film is going to involve Prey, Scott’s series, or Hawley’s series at all. However, it would be quite interesting if it did in some way. Granted, all three are going to likely differ in their respective timelines by a lot. Prey took place in the 1800s. Scott’s series takes place in space, so it is likely a futuristic timeline. Hawley’s is going to happen on Earth, in the not-so-distant future. This new Alien vs Predator film is going to take place in the far future, in space, so we are likely not to see corresponding characters used. However, easter eggs might be used. That was the case in Prey when Naru picked up a pistol that was also used by Danny Glover in Predator 2.
Since new Alien vs Predator film is going to take place in the far future, we could be seeing one of the most popular soldier types return, the Colonial Marines. The Colonial Marines were part of the first Alien film, which included the fan-favorite Ripley. While we would love to see Sigourney Weaver return in some capacity, that might not be possible. Still, it would be awesome. She was cloned after all. Either way, it sounds like Hulu is buying in a lot to both franchises. Prey might have been the catalyst that brought forth the reboots on both sides, and now we are getting a film that is going to combine both.
The Alien vs Predator films that have been released was a bit cheesy but still entertaining. That is how most of the Alien and Predator films have been too. However, with Ridley Scott coming back to his best franchise, there could be more going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about. He certainly was not involved with the previous AvP films, but that does not mean he has not seen the value of doing so now.
Both Alien shows are currently being worked on, though Noah Hawley’s series is likely to debut first in 2023. We also have not got word on a Prey sequel, though it is likely to happen, considering the film has received the highest viewership in Hulu history. For now, we can wait to see if Scott, Hawley, and Dan Trachtenberg (Prey director) will collaborate on this upcoming Alien vs Predator film. We don’t expect that to happen, but blending all these timelines in some manner would be amazing.
