It is anyone’s dream to appear in a Star Wars property and Danny Trejo is no different. The cult actor who appeared in countless films including Machete and Heat has had a long and prolific career. But that one thing he hasn’t done is appear in a galaxy far, far away. It seems that at last his dreams have come true. In the most recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett, Trejo finally got his wish. Trejo appears in episode 3 as a rancor trainer.

Fans have been delighted by this new development as the rancor is a callback to the original trilogy of Star Wars films. The rancor beast first appeared in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi at Jabba’s palace when Luke arrives to free Han Solo from frozen carbonite. And though he is ultimately successful, he meets some obstacles along the way. Jabba throws Luke into the pit where he has to battle a rancor. A large and toothy creature, Luke is forced to kill the rancor by crushing it with a blast door. Since The Book of Boba Fett picks up after Jabba’s demise, it makes sense that rancors would make an appearance.

And Danny Trejo is the man to do it. The actor first expressed interest in appearing in a Star Wars venture when he was on screenwriter Gary Whitta’s quarantine talk show, Talking Animals (via ScreenRant). The show takes place inside Nintendo’s popular game Animal Crossing. Trejo appeared to discuss his career, originally expressing interest in appearing in The Mandalorian. At that time, that was the hit Star Wars show on Disney that was out and everyone was talking about it. Melding the genre of sci-fi with the tropes of the famous samurai film series Lone Wolf and Cub, this would be a dream come true for anyone (via Den of Geek). Whitta’s work on Rogue One meant that he had pull at LucasFilm and stated that he would give them a call. Though Trejo did not appear in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett is just as impressive.

Danny Trejo may not have needed Whitta’s help after all. Not only is he a practiced actor with close to 500 credits on IMDb, but Trejo has a relationship with one of the directors. Robert Rodriguez is an executive producer on The Book of Boba Fett and has directed episodes of The Mandalorian. The two have worked together since the ‘90s starting with Rodriguez’s 1995 Desperado. The two continued to work together on From Dusk Till Dawn, Once Upon a Time In Mexico, and of course cult favorite Machete (via Vulture).

Now it seems that the rumors about The Book of Boba Fett bringing back the rancor are true. And fans could not be more excited about Danny Trejo’s arrival. Some fans think that it’s about time. While other fans want Machete In Space.

Of course, whenever you see the name of a celebrity you like, you might worry. Danny Trejo started trending and some fans got nervous. Thankfully, the Book of Boba Fett news reached them in time.

Danny Trejo arrives as the Rancor Keeper who is able to tame the rancor. Boba Fett wants to know how to ride the beast that seemed so scary in Return of the Jedi. Though The Book of Boba Fett has a problem with getting the numbers of its predecessor, there is no doubt that it has its moments. Seeing Trejo handle a rancor is just one of them.
