As Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprise their superhero roles in Ant-Man 3, they will be joined by David Dastmalchian as Kurt Goreshter once more. The news comes by way of Michael Kamens, who shared the official theater standee for Marvel’Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which lists the actor as part of the cast. However, the post is no longer available for public viewing as the owner has switched his social media profile to private.

The character first appeared as a friend and roommate of Scott Lang who worked as a hacker during heists. Once his friend became Ant-Man, Kurt portrayed by David Dastmalchian, along with Luis and Dave, became known as the Three Wombats. Together, the trio started a company called X-Con: Security Consultants, a reference to their days as ex-convicts and a run in the Ant-Man comics.

The unconfirmed revelation comes as a surprise to fans since it was unclear if Kurt would appear in the third Paul Rudd-led installment. Speaking to ComicBook.com about Ant-Man 3, David Dastmalchian said he was unsure of his character’s status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Unfortunately with the world of Ant-Man, I honestly don’t know where I’m going next,” he told the publication in July. At the time, the actor was working on an R-rated movie called The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

He explained that having come from Ant-Man, which is a fun family-friendly PG movie, to The Suicide Squad, the only drawback is that his kids won’t get to see his new films. “It’s awesome that James Gunn could go bonkers with the violence and the language and all of the comedy. But I have two kids who are so freaking excited about a movie that they are not going to see for about another six or seven years,” Ant-Man 3 star David Dastmalchian told the publication.

Fortunately, if his inclusion in Ant-Man 3 is true, David Dastmalchian will be able to take his kids to the highly anticipated Marvel movie. Directed by Peyton Reed, from a script by Jeff Loveness, the story sees Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne explore the Quantum Realm. They also face Kang the Conqueror, with some help from their family and friends.

Along with Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Ant-Man 3 stars Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors, Randall Park, and (hopefully) David Dastmalchian. Gregg Turkington reprises his role as Dale, the manager of a Baskin-Robbins store. Bill Murray has been cast as an unknown villain who has a history with Janet van Dyne in the Quantum Realm.

As the 31st film of the MCU plans for Ant-Man 3 was confirmed in November 2019, with Reed and Rudd returning while David Dastmalchian remains unconfirmed. Development began during the pandemic, with the film’s title and new cast members announced in December 2020. Production began in early February 2021 in Turkey, with additional filming taking place in San Francisco ahead of principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

Ant-Man 3, starring David Dastmalchian as Kurt, is currently scheduled for release in the United States on February 17, 2023. It is the first film of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
