Taylor Swift Conspiracy Theory Causes Pentagon Response

Taylor Swift is such a massive name at this point that her international Eras Tour has caused a swell in the economy on multiple stops. The pop star has also courted controversy in recent years for speaking out against bigotry and hatred from far-right political fringe groups, and encouraging her voter base to get out and vote their conscience at the polls.

Now, government officials have weighed in to ensure the public that Swift’s political statements and her involvement with the NFL are unrelated to official government business after Fox News and other right-wing outlets claimed the “Shake It Off” vocalist was pushing some kind of government conspiracy.

The Pentagon Lays Rumors To Rest

According to Pentagon officials, this is demonstrably false, patently absurd, and outright confusing. Of course, some of the people pushing these baseless conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift and the NFL are likely the same people who encouraged or actively engaged in sewing insurrection at the Capitol building on January 6, 2021, in an effort to force the American public to allow Donald Trump to remain in power against the will of the voters.

Taylor Swift Vs. Donald Trump

For many right-wing voters, the conspiracy began in December 2023 when Taylor Swift was chosen as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. Donald Trump randomly responded to this announcement, expressing that he was in fact more popular than the biggest pop star in the entire world, and that he would have been a better candidate for the Time cover.

Taylor Swift Viewed As A Threat?

Republican nominees have struggled to win the popular vote in the United States for decades now, with only one presidential election in the past 24 years reflecting a Republican popular vote winner. Since then, former president Donald Trump has baselessly claimed that elections that show dwindling support for his campaign are rigged against him, using conspiracies to rile up his base.

At this time, Taylor Swift has still not officially endorsed any candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, but her call for more young people to register to vote is enough for many Republicans to view as a threat to their candidates.

A Rigged Relationship?

Additionally, Swift’s feelings against Trump have been widely documented, causing some ultra-MAGA fans to foam at the mouth when they see her in the stands at NFL football games. Taylor Swift is currently involved in a romantic relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and has appeared at a number of NFL games throughout the past season to cheer him on.

The Chiefs are slated to perform in the Super Bowl next week, leaving some far-right conspiracy theorists to believe that Swift’s relationship with Kelce and the NFL is part of a broader push to force the singer’s political messaging down the throat of the public.

Serious Concerns Over Public Safety

While some government officials view the Taylor Swift conspiracy as laughable and not worth a second thought, others have real concerns. Many Americans were aware in the days leading up to January 6 that pro-Trump protesters planned to do something in and around Washington DC, though most members of national security failed to anticipate attempts of actual violence. As media outlets push this Taylor Swift idea far enough, some security analysts fear that it could result in more acts of domestic terrorism in and around the Super Bowl. Source: Politico
