Miley Cyrus is known for being a wrecking ball of pop culture, breaking records and the internet many times during her tenure as one of pop’s most recognizable figures for her music and her fashion. Recently, Cyrus posted an Instagram reel revealing to fans that her recent single “Flowers” had broken the internet yet again, this time by breaking a coveted Spotify record. The post was in celebration of the single becoming the fastest song ever to hit one billion streams in Spotify history.

The Instagram reel features Miley Cyrus posing in a golden one-piece bathing suit in a field of tall flowers showing off her trim figure and various tattoos. The reel ends with a quick flash to another scene in which Cyrus is wearing a Greco-Roman-inspired golden dress with elegant ruffles throughout. Her hair is done up in a bob, and she is wearing sunglasses, giving the experience a Statue of Liberty meets Pacific Coast chic energy.

Miley Cyrus released the record-breaking single in January 2023 as the lead single for her eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation. It quickly ascended the charts with its highly relatable theme of eschewing bad relationships for self-love and an insanely catchy, TikTok-friendly hook.

Although some viewers may be focusing on how the bathing suit accentuates Miley Cyrus’ figure, they should focus on how it seems her career certainly seems to have legs. The 30-year-old artist and god-daughter of music legend Dolly Parton has been one of the leading figures in pop music for over a decade now. With the success of her recent single and album, it doesn’t seem that will change anytime soon.

Miley Cyrus’s first credited role on screen was in her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus’s television series Doc. Cyrus first rose to national prominence when she landed the titular character in the Disney series Hannah Montana. The series quickly became one of Disney Channel’s most popular programs and catapulted Cyrus into the realm of a teen idol.

Miley Cyrus toured with fellow Disney Channel stars the Cheetah Girls, which would prove to be a critical jumping-off point for the teen artist. In 2007 she released the two-disc album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, with a second disc that served as her debut studio album credited as herself.

Miley Cyrus has since followed up with a number of albums like 2008’s Breakout, 2010s Can’t Be Tamed, and 2020’s Plastic Hearts, alongside her recent release. She is known for singles like “Party in the U.S.A.,” “Wrecking Ball,” and, of course, “Flowers.”

Outside of her musical career, Miley Cyrus is known as a staunch advocate for the LGBTQ+ community after coming out as pansexual to her family at 14. Cyrus founded the Happy Hippie Foundation, an organization whose mission is to “fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth, and other vulnerable populations.”

Miley Cyrus is one of the startlingly few examples of a wildly famous child star having an arguably more famous career as an adult. She will long be regarded as one of the queens of 2000’s pop alongside figures like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
