It’s been 30 years since boba tea was first introduced to the United States, but it has never been as popular as it is now. After appearing in various movies and television shows and exploding in popularity on social media, this interesting milky tea filled with tapioca bubbles has managed to entwine its way into American pop culture. Anywhere you go, you’re likely within a five-block radius of somewhere that sells boba, and now, according to The Street, you can even find it at your local Jack in the Box.

That’s right, Jack in the Box is the latest fast-food restaurant to add a delicious and refreshing drink (other than soda) to its menu. The burger jester has leaped headfirst into the vibrant world of boba tea, unveiling three whimsical concoctions that have sent social media into a frenzy. With boba tea’s popularity skyrocketing in recent years, Jack in the Box is determined to join the flavorful revolution with its own unique spin.

Now, before you get too excited, the experimental boba tea drinks are currently only available at select Jack in the Box locations in Long Beach, Torrance, and San Diego. But, if you’re a California resident, or are planning to visit the west coast sometime soon, then it looks like you’ll have the opportunity to be one of the first to try one of Jack in the Box’s newest drink concoctions.

One of their boba tea offerings, aptly named Milk Tea with Boba, pays homage to the original Brown Sugar Boba. This charming creation combines a smooth black tea base with a tantalizing blend of sweet cream and vanilla extract, all poured over a refreshing bed of ice. It’s a delightful dance of flavors that sounds like it will transport your taste buds to a state of pure bliss.

For those who crave a caffeine kick, the Iced Coffee with Boba delivers an invigorating twist. Instead of boba tea, Jack in the Box infuses their signature boba pearls into a rich, velvety coffee, creating a captivating fusion that will have coffee lovers rejoicing with each sip.

Classic boba tea not from Jack-in-the-Box

And, in a final twist on the classic Taiwanese drink, Jack in the Box has dared to push the boundaries with their whimsical Vanilla Shake with Boba. This playful blend introduces the essence of tea to a creamy milk and ice cream concoction, culminating in a harmonious symphony of flavors that is then crowned with fluffy whipped cream. While not technically boba tea, it’s a sweet treat aimed to satisfy any mouth with a sweet tooth.

Although these delightful boba tea creations are currently available exclusively at select locations, social media users wasted no time expressing their opinion on the fast food conglomerate’s menu change. Some applauded mainstream brands for embracing this beloved Asian beverage, while others couldn’t resist poking fun at the “Westernized” interpretation, questioning the sheer amount of sugar Jack in the Box is sure to add to the beverage.

With boba tea’s extraordinary rise to prominence, it’s no wonder that mainstream brands are eager to tap into this culturally diverse market. Previously considered too niche for national chains, boba tea has proven its worth as a universally adored beverage. While other major players have dabbled in the boba tea realm with mixed success, Jack in the Box is determined to win over their loyal customers’ hearts and taste buds.

As the global boba tea market continues to thrive at an impressive Compound Annual Growth Rate of nearly 9 percent, the boba revolution shows no signs of slowing down.
