There seems to be no shortage of Chris Pratt controversies. The Guardians of the Galaxy star was once considered to be the lovable everyman. But lately the actor has been finding himself in one controversy after another. This time it is over the amount of money that Pratt is charging for autographed pictures.

The autographing site that Pratt has partnered with is called SWAU and is charging $350 per autograph. Chris Pratt is not the only actor to charge for this service. Gal Gadot’s autographs have a fee of $350 while Chris Hemsworth only costs $250. This most recent news is certainly not the worst of Pratt’s recent media coverage. For some fans, this is adding fuel to the fire. “$350?! Is this for charity???” Scott Dramsey commented on Pratt’s Instagram.

Fans have had other issues with Chris Pratt besides the newest autograph news. Pratt made headlines when he was cast as Mario in the upcoming untitled Super Mari movie. Most of the rest of the cast were highly praised. Fans loved the idea of Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach and Jack Black as Bowser. But Pratt’s casting as the Italian video game character crossed the lines for some fans. The discourse became so prevalent that Mario Bros. producer Chris Meledandri spoke out in defense of the casting. Pratt will not be doing a stereotypical Italian accent, says the producer, and that’s a good thing. Mario isn’t the only iconic character Pratt will be voicing. He has also been cast to voice Garfield in an animated feature film.

Some fans have also raised issues with Chris Pratt’s statements on social media. The biggest call to get Pratt canceled is in regards to a statement about his new family with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger. In the Instagram post, Pratt praised his wife for giving him a “healthy baby daughter.” Out of context, this does not seem particularly inflammatory. But fans who know about Pratt’s history have found issues with it. Many consider this to be a reference to Pratt’s ex-wife Anna Farris and their son Jack. Pratt’s son was born prematurely and the parents were concerned that there would be developmental issues as a result.

Another notable instance of controversy was when Elliott Page claimed that Chris Pratt’s church is notoriously anti-LGBTQ on Twitter in 2019. Pratt is not the only celebrity to attend this church. Among other congregants are Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

Still, Pratt has the luck of celebrity that continues to soar. The more famous he gets it seems, the more his actions will be analyzed. He started out in tertiary roles in Everwood and Parks and Rec. But in 2021, he has collected more franchises. He has starred in Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, and is now cornering the territory on animated properties. It seems like it may be be a long time – if ever – before audiences see him as the every man again.
