The Queen’s Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy is currently in London for a premiere, and she’s making headlines of her own with a jaw-dropping look on the red carpet. At the British premiere of her new horror comedy The Menu, Taylor-Joy dazzled in an electric blue latex/leather dress by Alexander McQueen from his spring/summer 2023 collection, a strapless corset with an asymmetrical ruffled skirt and matching gloves. The dress highlighted her long, toned legs, as she has been keeping in top physical condition for her latest film (more on that later).

In The Menu, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult play a young couple who travel to a remote island to dine at an exclusive restaurant, only to discover some shocking (and deadly) surprises await them, thanks to the mysterious chef in charge (Ralph Fiennes). Hoult accompanied Taylor-Joy to the premiere (although they are not an item), but the X-Men actor quickly faded into the red carpet background thanks to Anya’s knockout look. The Menu also stars John Leguizamo, Janet McTeer, and Judith Light (Who’s The Boss) and opens in theaters on November 18.

Taylor-Joy recently celebrated Halloween by dressing up as Princess Peach in an Instagram post, which is fitting, as she will voice the character in the upcoming animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, with Chris Pratt voicing Mario. For the Instagram picture, however, her boyfriend Malcolm McRae dressed as Mario.

Anya Taylor-Joy on Saturday Night Live

In October, Anya Taylor-Joy took to Instagram to celebrate the completing the filming of the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa, in which she plays a younger version of the character originated by Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron.

You might be surprised to learn that, even though the 26-year-old was born in Florida, she grew up in Spain, and spoke only Spanish until she was eight years old. Her family then moved to London, where she learned to love English after watching her first movie there, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. She also credits the film for sparking her love for film.

After a couple of small roles, Anya Taylor-Joy had her breakthrough role when she was cast by director Robert Eggers in 2015’s The Witch, where she played a young girl seduced by the devil himself in 1600s colonial New England. Eggers cast her again in his Viking film The Northman, and she was due to appear in his remake of Nosferatu, until production troubles sidelined the film.

She won praise for her performance in 2016’s horror/sci-fi film Morgan, but she hit superstardom when M. Night Shyamalan cast her in Split as Casey, a young girl kidnapped by a mysterious man with multiple personalities and strange powers (James McAvoy). That film turned out to be a sideways-sequel to his film Unbreakable, and that film’s stars, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, joined McAvoy and Taylor-Joy for the third film in the series, Glass, in 2019.

Her role in The Queen’s Gambit won her a Golden Globe in 2021. Her other films and TV series include Last Night in Soho, Marvel’s The New Mutants, Emma, Thoroughbreds, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Peaky Blinders.

In addition to The Menu, Anya Taylor-Joy can also be currently seen in the film Amsterdam.
