Watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars 100th Episode Celebration Video

In the summer of 2008, Star Wars: The Clone Wars hit movie theaters around the world. This feature film was the first animated Star Wars movie to be released in theaters and would bridge the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. After its theater run, the property found a new life on the Cartoon Network as a weekly, episodic animated TV series. Tomorrow morning, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is about to celebrate the series’ 100th episode. Watch the special video to commemorate the animated series’ century milestone below.

The episode is titled “Missing in Action” and is one of five episodes in a narrative arc that will close out the series’ fifth season. The season finale will air on February 2nd on the Cartoon Network. The finale will end a five-year run on the network before heading over to Disney DX, as part of Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise.

Originally, the animated series was only supposed to be five seasons with about 100 or so episodes. This would’ve been a good chunk of time spent expanding the Star Wars universe before getting back into Revenge of the Sith. But now that Disney owns the property, it’s unclear how long the animated series will go on.

If you don’t watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars then you’re really missing out on the expanded Star Wars universe. The animated series features storylines with bounty hunters, clone troopers, Anakin’s undisciplined Padawan Ahsoka “Snips” Tano, Boba Fett’s upbringing, Jedi Younglings, the resurrection of Darth Maul, hundreds of lightsaber battles, and much, much more. It’s pretty amazing how much canon material has been in this series.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – “Missing In Action” airs on January 5th at 9:30AM on the Cartoon Network.
