Although the role has yet to be cast, we’ve heard a lot of talk of who will get the chance to play the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord/Peter Quill. We really haven’t heard much about who will play the other members in the team of intergalactic protectors. Apparently, three actors are separately in talks to play Drax The Destroyer in the upcoming Marvel movie.
According to ComicBookMovie.com, Marvel is really close to casting the role of Drax The Destroyer/Arthur Douglas in Guardians of the Galaxy. Actors Isaiah Mustafa (The Old Spice Guy), Brian Patrick Wade (The Guardian) and former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista (The Man With The Iron Fists) are all currently in negotiations with Marvel Studios for the role of the superhuman team member. Production and shooting will reportedly start very soon as we wait for the official word about casting.
The character of Arthur Douglas is a human whose family was attacked and killed by the super villain Thanos. Needing someone to defeat his grandson, Thanos, the being known as Kronos took Arthur Douglas’ soul and placed it in a new body to create Drax The Destroyer. Drax’s superpowers include enhanced strength and resilience, flight, and the ability to project energy blasts. According to director James Gunn, Drax The Destroyer’s back-story will be updated for the feature film in 2014.
It’s only a matter of time before casting rumors and speculation is released on who will play the other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy including Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora. Can someone at Marvel consider Jason Statham to do motion capture and voice Rocket Raccoon? This will be both badass and adorable!
Guardians Of The Galaxy will hit theaters everywhere on August 1st 2014.
