terminator-1After a hiatus from Hollywood and a foray into politics (I’m still waiting for him to make a run at the White House as predicted by Demolition Man), everyone’s favorite former Austrian body builder (seriously, name another one) is returning to where he belongs: action movies. Not only is Arnold Schwarzenegger diving back into the genre where he made his name, but he’s set to reprise one of his biggest, most iconic roles.

Yesterday it was reported that not only will Schwarzenegger return to the Terminator franchise for T5, but the film will begin shooting in early 2014. Today we’ve got a few more specific details. This information comes from the fine folks at ArnoldFans, who caught up with the man himself at the 21st Century Financial Education Summit in Australia.

“Early 2014” now translates into January of 2014. That’s an exciting little nugget, and means that we’ll see another chapter sooner than most of us expected. Let’s all hope we don’t get another Salvation-style letdown.

The second gem is that Schwarzenegger will, in fact, play a Terminator once again. It was earlier rumored that his character would be human. Where’s the fun in that? We can all breathe a little easier now that that pesky detail is out of the way. After all, who wants to see him in a Terminator movie not playing a cybernetic killing machine? Not this guy.

The script for T5 was commissioned back in January, and is being written by Drive Angry helmer Patrick Lussier and Shutter Island scribe Laeta Kalogridis.
