Ever since Joss Whedon launched the hugely popular web based Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog fans have clamored for more. The Buffy and Firefly creator made the show as a way to prove Internet programming could be done and done well; also that whole writer’s strike situation kept him and his compadres from doing their normal work.
Since then Whedon and others involved in Dr. Horrible have hinted that a follow-up is on the way. The problem is that most, especially Joss, are over booked with important things and stuff. There’s that tent pole Avengers film, and the recently wrapped secret Much Ado About Nothing that Whedon has been busy with. Neil Patrick Harris has a little CBS sitcom to contend with, and Nathan Fillion has finally found the success he deserves on Castle.
But now we’re getting word that some work, albeit just a wee bit, has been done on a Horrible sequel. We have no idea what a follow-up to the brilliant web series could be, but here’s to hoping at some point the Doctor rides Bad Horse.
In an interview with Yahoo Whedon says:
“We have been working on that for a while. It’s been hard, because we all have jobs, and some of them are extremely taxing. But we have had a vision of the thing for a while, we have been working on it, we have a bunch of songs and a few scenes. We need a little free time and right now that’s plenty hard to come by.”
Personally I often have to remember that Joss is fallible, and has made some not so great things in the past. OK, who am I kidding? I’m already planning my viewing watching accoutrements for this event. It’ll have to include items that won’t spill easily when I jump up in excitement or laugh hard enough to convulse. Now we just have to sit back and let the rumors fly on what the sequel will be about.
