Vin Diesel has been playing Dominic Toretto in Fast & Furious for two decades now. With that main franchise coming to a close, he’s got to be feeling the pressure to make the storyline stand out. The main storyline ends with movie eleven. The ninth film comes out in this summer. So how is he going to make those final two Fast & Furious movies stand out? One way this franchise always manages to do that is to go as big and ridiculous as they can. They probably have that covered. The other is to bring on more standout talent. Now, insider Daniel Richtman is saying that Vin Diesel wants Dave Bautista for future Fast & Furious movies.

Richtman has been reporting a fair amount about Vin Diesel and the final Fast & Furious movies lately. He’s claimed to have heard that the actor is having an ego problem that is putting his career in jeopardy. Studios are finding his ego to be a problem they don’t want to deal with and so no one is going out of their way to cast him in roles.

Richtman claims that the actor has a particular ego problem when it comes to Dwayne Johnson. He says that Diesel wants to minimize The Rock’s role in the final films so that he doesn’t steal the show. This is particularly interesting since at the same time that Diesel’s ego is apparently trying to diminish The Rock’s shine, rumors continue to spread about the actor wanting big-name players for Fast & Furious. For example, it was recently rumored that he wants to get Ryan Reynolds on board.

Currently, Vin Diesel is most well-known for the Fast & Furious films. He also has a part in Guardians of the Galaxy as Groot, where Dave Bautista plays Drax. This is a big moment in Bautista’s career. He has a starring role in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which is about to hit Netflix on May 21, 2021. We’ll be seeing him in Dune when that finally releases. He is slated to reprise his role as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 3. And it was just announced that he has joined the star-studded cast for Knives Out 2. The second and third movies for that franchise were picked up by Netflix for $450 million, a deal that caught a lot of attention. In recent weeks, Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monae, and Edward Norton have been announced as picking up roles for the sequel with Daniel Craig. In the midst of all this, would Dave Bautista have room or interest in Fast & Furious with Vin Diesel?

Dave Bautista has expressed a lot of excitement and intimidation over the opportunity to join Knives Out 2. When talking about it, he told Slash Film, “This is how I gauge my career, the people I’m working with. The projects that I’m on, the directors that I work with. So I know being announced as part of this cast is a huge statement, because the first film crushed.” Based on this, it sounds like Bautista cares a lot about who he works with. Vin Diesel is a big name with a long career, so that might interest Bautista. At the same time, if he is building a reputation in Hollywood as being difficult to work with, that may turn Bautista off.

Since they have both worked on the Guardians of the Galaxy films together and likely done press tours, they’ve had a chance to get to know each other. Dave Bautista will be well-informed on what it’s really like to work with Vin Diesel if the actor does approach him for talks. Whether that will make Bautista more or less likely to want to join Fast & Furious only Dave Bautista really knows.
