Now that production has resumed on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, Christina Chong, who plays La’an Noonien Singh in the series, took to Instagram stories to share a photo of her dog Runa Ewok on the Toronto set. The post, originally shared from a profile dedicated to the pup, sees Runa looking very relaxed alongside the caption. “In the Ready Room, ready for the day.”

Runa Ewok On Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Runa Ewok made her Star Trek: Strange New Worlds debut as Princess Runa in the Season 1 episode “The Elysian Kingdom” as the pet of Princess Thalia (Christina Chong).

The show’s regular cast played fairy-tale figures from a children’s book in that episode. Chong was overjoyed at being able to bring her dog to the set and dress up with her.

Runa Treated Like A Star Wars VIP

Runa had a fun experience on the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds set. She had her own chair with her name on it for when the cameras were not rolling.

Her role involved wearing matching colorful dresses with Princess Thalia and being featured in several close-up shots.

Chong was also able to get Runa to growl on command, which was a big deal for the pup.

Poppy Also On Strange New Worlds Set

The daughter of a producing director, Chris Fisher, was also on the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds set, making her acting debut.

In an image shared to Instagram, the nine-year-old Poppy is seen in a Starfleet uniform, alongside the caption, “Poppy’s first costume fitting.

The post also gives a shout-out to costume designer Bernadette Croft for all her “love and help.”

Strange New Worlds Season 3 Production

Strange New Worlds

Production of the third season of Strange New Worlds began in December 2023 under the direction of Chris Fisher. Initially slated to start in May 2023, filming came to a halt due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Following a hiatus for the holidays, production resumed in early January 2024, with the completion of the second episode directed by Jordan Canning four weeks ago.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Is A Prequel Series

Strange New Worlds

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds serves as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. The story focuses on the crew of the starship Enterprise under the leadership of Captain Christopher Pike (played by Anson Mount). The series sees the crew exploring new worlds and encountering various alien species while delving into the backstories of beloved characters.

The series premiered on May 5, 2022, on Paramount+ and has since been renewed for three seasons. Its premise combines elements of the classic Star Trek franchise with modern storytelling techniques, aiming to balance episodic adventures with serialized character development. The show has earned critical acclaim for its commitment to the spirit of the original series.

The second season of Strange New Worlds was a hit for Paramount+, earning several Critics Choice Awards and nominations for Saturn Awards. The highly anticipated third season will see the entire cast reprise their roles. Scottish actor Martin Quinn, who debuted as Scotty in the Season 2 finale titled “Hegemony,” will join the ensemble.

Showrunners previously hinted that fans can expect to see more characters from The Original Series. Despite maintaining an episodic format, the upcoming season promises a recurring antagonist, with the Gorn taking on the role of villains. Paramount is yet to announce a release date for Strange New Worlds Season 3.
