Hit Sci-Fi Series Finally Gets Season 2 News Fans Have Been Waiting For

By Jason Collins | Published

Apple TV+’s Severance was one of the best television series released in 2022, and its first season ended up with a rather insane cliffhanger. However, aside from the notice of renewal, no one really bothered to share some additional information about Severance Season 2 to keep the fandom’s spirits up. Fortunately, the series’ director and executive producer, Ben Stiller, offered a direct update teasing Season 2, following a series of teases made by Apple TV+ on social media.

Ben Stiller Confirms Season 2 Is Back On Schedule

It’s worth noting that the work on Severance Season 2 began in October 2022, but the filming was interrupted by the dual strikes in Hollywood mere days before it was set to finish. Ben Stiller now stated that the work on Season 2 has continued, but he offered no other comments about the show, its production and progress, nor how many new episodes of Severance the fandom can expect.

However, coupled with Apple TV+’s previous teasers, this update seems like a rather positive sign for those who are enthusiastic about the show.

When To Expect Season 2 On Apple TV+

As for the Severance Season 2 release date, that particular information remains shrouded in mystery. Given Apple’s teases and Stiller’s confirmation, along with the fact that the filming nearly concluded last year, it’s rather safe to assume that the series will arrive later this year.

Please note that this is merely speculation based on observed trends within the industry, so please ingest this information with a grain of salt. It’s important to note that while the filming stopped during the dual strikes in the industry, the development of the series hasn’t.

A Crisis In Production

It appears that the show has some setbacks in production that weren’t tied to the now-concluded strikes. Some reports suggest that production delays in Severance Season 2 were partially caused by the ballooning budget costs and fallouts between Severance‘s showrunners. However, it’s unclear how much these alleged conflicts actually affected the production and how they might be reflected in Season 2 of the series.

What’s In Store For Season 2

As for the narrative, we know is that the cast of Severance will return to their roles as workers in Lumon Industries in Season 2. They’ll have to deal with the consequences of the outies’ escape in the season 1 finale, and the building mystery surrounding the company will also develop further, along with the revelations of what exactly happened to Mark’s wife in the show. Severance premiered in February 2022, starring Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Jen Tulloch.

The characters are employed at the aforementioned company as employees who were voluntarily severed from their personal lives, and when they enter the elevator to start their workday, their minds are switched over to their work selves, who know nothing of what’s going on outside of work, and vice versa.

It’s a rather interesting concept, which ended in a stellar reception of Season 1, three Golden Globes, and six Emmy nominations. We can only hope that Severance Season 2 fits the rather big boots of Season 1 and provides, at the very least, the same amount of entertainment.
