Yesterday, we got to see some truly awesome fan-play as The Hollywood Reporter kicked off one of the sweetest photo projects imaginable, reimagining some of sci-fi’s greatest characters with some of sci-fi’s most popular actors. Firefly‘s Nathan Fillion took on the role of Captain Kirk and Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick checked the time as Marty McFly. And now you can see Avatar‘s Zoe Saldana playing this genre’s most ass-kicking hero, Ellen Ripley, from James Cameron’s Aliens, among others.
Saldana gives a great interview with THR, talking about all three of her simultaneous sci-fi franchises. (She’s also in Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek, of course.) As such, it’s no surprise that she should earn the spot of one of cinema’s most iconic female characters, in the movie where she turns from heroine to warrior.
And from one space adventure to the another we go, landing with Battlestar Galactica stars Grace Park and Katee Sackhoff as they find the Force as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The background art on these images is so great. C-3PO looks like he’s seen a ghost.
My personal favorite out of this bunch is Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany donning a bloody white dress shirt to play Shaun from Edgar Wright’s superb horror comedy Shaun of the Dead. It kind of makes me want to grab a beer at the Winchester. Well, except for all the death everywhere. How about you guys?
And here we have an unexpected Walking Dead team-up from star Norman Reedus and producer Gale Anne Hurd. Since Maslany already took care of the zombies, these guys have set their focus on big ugly aliens as they portray Agents J and K from Men in Black. There’s no neuralyzer that can make you forget you saw this.
Head to THR to see all of the Titans of Comic-Con, including a Princess Bride homage and an alternate take on the Men in Black shot. And then just head to any other website to see all the freaks and geeks from Comic-Con.
