More Total Recall Viral Posters

You’ve seen a handful of viral posters for Sony’s Total Recall remake, and now a few more have started to trickle in. The posters purport to be for Rekall, the company in the film that will implant false memories into your brain. Say you want to be a racecar driver, or live the life of a millionaire, they can make you think you are.

So far we’ve seen posters offering the chance to live like a Hollywood starlet and as an MMA fighter. The new ones give you the chance to buy the memories of what appears to be a trust fund kid partying on a yacht, and, more in line with the actual film, those of an astronaut strolling on the surface of another planet.

Beyond these posters, the viral campaign for Total Recall is stepping things up. Last time we talked there was a website—www.welcometorekall.com—and that is now up and running. The interactive site guides you through Rekall, introduces you to the primary players in the company, and details the packages of memories you can purchase. This is actually a clever set up, and it’s fun to poke around. While you explore your options, you can also enter sweepstakes for all sorts of actual prizes. You can win a day of training with a UFC fighter, a day in the studio with a rock band, and even go to spy school.

On the other side of this coin there’s yet another website—www.norekall.org—that takes a decidedly anti-Rekall stance. The site details cases where the cerebral implants caused irreparable trauma and damage to their clients.

In a time when seemingly every movie has a viral ad campaign, Total Recall created one that is unique, and they’re having a good time doing it.

The Len Wiseman-directed Total Recall opens August 3rd, and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, and Bill Nighy.
