With Black Widow on the horizon, there is a new rumor circulating about the release of the film that is starring Scarlett Johansson. According to Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is not happy with Disney as the company allegedly made the decision to put the standalone film on Disney Plus without telling him.

Studios have been all over the place regarding how to release a film during the pandemic. Some have opted to delay until a theater opening is available, others have gone straight to streaming, and others have tried to find a balance between going to services and theaters. Scarlet Johansson beating on bad guys in the Marvel spectacle will do the latter with a theatrical and streaming release. The indecisiveness of the industry could be the only main validity to these claims as potentially Fiege wanted something that Disney did not agree with or that he was really pushing for no streaming at all for the film. There is no way to know as this story is not confirmed as of writing.

If this were true, it would be quite surprising due to Feige’s power at Marvel, and his leadership has led to the biggest movie franchise in history that made people’s careers, like Scarlett Johansson. Disney should have more trust in him, making this not the most likely of rumors. His decisions so far have served fans with epic stories with iconic comic book characters who have been brought back to life on the big and small screen. They’ve also brought in billions of dollars to the corporate overlords that own the Marvel.

Feige getting mad at Disney for how they are releasing this last appearance for Scarlett Johansson would line up with other rumors regarding Disney Plus being the platform for movies. While people wanting to watch movies like Mulan, Cruella, and Black Widow have had to pay, Pixar movies like Luca have been released for free. According to a report, there is a rumor that the animation studio is unhappy with Disney for putting its films out for free rather than charging.

While it should be recommended to hold onto this news lightly, we got an exclusive that Feige was trying to block Black Widow to go onto the streaming platform. He tried to block it, but nine months later, that has not worked out.

Scarlett Johansson made her Marvel Cinematic Debut in 2010 with Iron Man 2. She got the ball rolling with a bigger part to play two years later in Avengers. Since then, she went to do Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and the climactic two-parter with Infinity War and Endgame. Black Widow will be a prequel that takes place between Civil War and Infinity War.

For fans, you don’t have long to wait to see Scarlett Johansson star in a Marvel epic one last time. She will be joined by Florence Pugh (Midsommar) and David Harbour (Stranger Things). The film will be directed by Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome) with writers Eric Pearson (Godzilla vs. Kong), Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision), Ned Benson (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby).

Black Widow faced multiple delays when it was originally meant to come out last year. It will finally release in theaters and on Disney Plus on July 9th.
