Marvel Reviving Infinity Stones To Save The MCU?

By Jason Collins | Published

Taking into account the quality of its latest releases, it’s becoming obvious that 2019’s Endgame was the game end for the MCU. Each subsequent release was panned by audiences, and the whole Cinematic Universe overexpanded, obviously prioritizing quantity over quality. Well, it would seem that Disney is taking a different approach with the MCU, as fans notice possible connections to the Infinity Stones, indicating their potential return.

Marvel Is Bringing Back The Infinity Stones?

According to Forbes, the MCU fandom noticed something rather interesting following the Season 2 finale of Loki and the debut of The Marvels, which might connect to the allegedly destroyed Infinity Stones. It would seem that Marvel is planning to revive the Stones and bring them back to the forefront once again.

Wanda/The Reality Stone

The current theory is that the Infinity Stones are making a return to the MCU in the form of individuals. 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, as the main villain of the movie. Her powers allow her to bend and manipulate reality through her magic, which has a red glow. The Reality Stone just so happens to be red. Coincidence? Quite possibly, just because something is one color, it shouldn’t be connected to the other thing.

Loki/The Time Stone

But wait. The newly all-powerful, time-traveling Loki is now sitting on a throne at the center of the multiverse and holding all the timelines together with his very green magic. It just so happens that the Time Stone is green. We ask again, coincidence? Well, we’re not so sure anymore. Oh, and Monica Rambeau from WandaVision, also known as Spectrum, is obviously the embodiment of the Space Stone—she has the ability to close holes in space, and her powers glow blue. So, it’s safe to assume that the Infinity Stones are returning to the MCU as heroes and whatever Wanda is now.

What About The Soul Stone?

Whether or not this is actually the truth still remains to be seen, but for the sake of this particular discussion, we’ll assume that the fandom’s speculations are correct. This brings up questions regarding the final three Infinity Stones. The Power Stone is most probably linked to Wakanda due to its purple glow, and the Mind Stone was previously connected to Vision, which was rebuilt and is pending his return to the MCU. The only Infinity Stone missing is the Soul Stone, and that’s where we’re at a loss of words in terms of hero-stone connection.

It’s Just One Theory

Whatever the case may be, the current theory really isn’t outside the realm of possibility. On one hand, the Infinity Stones play a rather big role in the Marvel Universe, but on the other, the office workers at the Time Variance Authority are using them as paperweights, along with the Tesseract and many other over-powered items that have a very rich and dangerous history in the MCU. So, the return of embodied Infinity Stones is a neat little theory—perhaps the heroes won’t need a gauntlet to use the Stones next time they face a massive threat.
