Keanu Reeves is known for playing tough guys on screen. But in real life, the Matrix actor is one of the nicest people in the entertainment industry. Like any superhero, he does his good deeds away from the spotlight. However, stories about his kindness and warmth have surfaced over the years – from adorable fan interactions to his charitable efforts. The most recent story of Keanu Reeves’ kindness comes by way of Esquire. During an interview with the publication, the actor revealed that his Matrix co-star Carrie-Anne Moss asked if he could throw out a few movie recommendations that she should watch with her teenage kids. The action star takes requests from his friends very seriously, so he didn’t just rattle off random titles like most of us.

Keanu Reeves took it to the next level and created two lists – a first draft and an updated version. The list features 18 films spanning various decades, directors, and genres. Interestingly, Reeves is only in two of them – Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2016 film The Neon Demon and Ana Lily Amirpour’s 2016 dystopian thriller The Bad Batch. These movies might seem like an odd choice since they aren’t his most popular offerings. But perhaps Keanu Reeves wanted to share projects with more depth as opposed to run-of-the-mill box office hits. Check out the full list below:

  1. The Neon Demon (starring Keanu Reeves)
  2. A Clockwork Orange
  3. Rollerball
  4. The Bad Batch (starring Keanu Reeves)
  5. Dr. Strangelove
  6. Seven Samurai
  7. Amadeus
  8. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead
  9. The Evil Dead
  10. Raising Arizona
  11. The Big Lebowski
  12. La Femme Nikita (the French version)
  13. The Professional
  14. Young Frankenstein
  15. Blazing Saddles
  16. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  17. The Outlaw Josey Wales
  18. The Road Warrior: Mad Max 2

The list is surprising for a few reasons. One is that it only includes a few Keanu Reeves movies, and that those titles are not his most popular. Another is that the list includes titles from different decades, genres, some obscure and some not. His taste in movies appears to vary widely.

However, if you feel like this list is lacking in Keanu Reeves titles, fans can still catch him in The Matrix: Resurrections. Announced in August 2019, the film is co-written, directed, and produced by Lana Wachowski, who worked on the three previous films with her sister Lilly. For the new film, Lana shares scriptwriting duties with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. The project also has Warner Bros. partnering with Village Roadshow once more.

The Matrix: Resurrections sees stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity respectively. The film also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Daniel Bernhardt, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Christina Ricci, Eréndira Ibarra, and more.

Set 60 years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions, Neo (Keanu Reeves) is living a seemingly ordinary life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco where his therapist prescribes him blue pills. Neither he nor Trinity recognizes each other. However, a new and younger-looking Morpheus offers him the red pill and reopens his mind to the world of The Matrix, which has become more secure and dangerous in the years since the Smith infection. The Matrix: Resurrections is currently showing in theaters and on HBO Max.
