The Joker 2 cast is really starting to round out now and is already shaping up to be one of the more surprising, and frankly, unique sequels we’ve seen in some time. After all, it’s following one of the true surprise movies ever in terms of tone and reception. And now, they’ve added another cast member to the mix, this one helping to take us to one of the more infamous institutions in all of Gotham.

The Hollywood Reporter has it that Jacob Lofland has been cast in Joker: Folie a Deux and it looks like he’s going to be an inmate of Arkham Asylum which could really help round out the madness in this film.

For the moment, the exact role Jacob Lofland is playing in Joker 2 isn’t known except that he’s going to be in Arkham. There’s a chance he’s on the medical side of that institution, but it’s unlikely. What we are probably looking at is another inmate and these folks could be critical to the plot.

While many of the finer plot details aren’t known at this point, we do know that Arkham will factor heavily into the story with Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck likely to end up there in at least some respect.

Before this Joker 2 role, Jacob Lofland had a couple of feature roles in other productions. The first one was in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials which was the sequel to 2014s Maze Runner. He played Aris Jones in the movie. He reprised the role in the third movie, Maze Runner: The Death Cure where he took a more prominent part.

He was also in the AMC series The Son in which he played the younger version of Pierce Brosnan’s Eli McCullough. He ended up in 20 episodes in all. The actor has been starting to gain a foothold in the industry over the last few years.

As for what’s to come in Joker 2, well that could end up really being something. The movie is set to be a musical with Phoenix back as the main character. Other returning cast members include Zazie Beetz who was confirmed to reprise her Sophie Dumond part.

Plus, Lady Gaga is joining the cast as this universe’s Harley Quinn, a fitting choice considering the proposed musical element of the movie. It will surely be a different vibe than what we’ve seen with Margot Robbie’s turn as the character for the DCEU. And Todd Phillips is back directing after completely crushing it with the first film.

Again, Joker 2 has some big clown shoes to fill here seeing as how the first movie was one of the truly amazing box office performances of all time. It tipped over a billion dollars in ticket sales when all was said and done. It even Academy nods for Best Picture and Best Director with Phoenix walking home with the Best Actor award that year. Joker: Folie a Deux will look to make a similar mark and we are starting to get a clearer sense of how the movie will shake out.
