Well, we didn't expect that.

A Reddit user recently spotted a car made to look like a Gotham City Police Department vehicle driving through the streets of Europe. Naturally, the Redditor wondered what Batman project was filming in their local neighborhood. Unfortunately, it’s not as exciting as another Reddit user revealed that someone in Liverpool owns the car and it’s often seen driving around England. While it’s certainly a cool-looking car, it is a bit disappointing that there isn’t anything being filmed with it. You can see the images below.

It’s not a wild assumption that the Redditor would assume that studios were using parts of Europe to portray the broody Gotham City streets and skylines. There has been a multitude of Batman projects that have specifically used the UK for primary filming locations. Tim Burton’s Batman was shot in England and Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins was shot quite a bit in the UK as well. The sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight also filmed in England. Even the most recent entry to the Batman filmography, Matt Reeves’ The Batman, was filmed in London.

While that Gotham City Police Department vehicle won’t be in any productions, there are plenty of Batman-related projects in the works to look forward to. A sequel to Todd Philipp’s Joker was recently announced with Joaquin Phoenix rumored to return and Lady Gaga rumored to play Harley Quinn. Joker 2 will see Todd Philips return to direct and write the script. We’ll also be seeing two Batman actors return to their roles in the near future, with Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton both stepping back into the cape and cowl for The Flash.

The next time we’ll see Batman and the citizens of Gotham City will be in animated form, as the third season of the animated Harley Quinn is returning to HBO Max on July 28. The trailer gives us a brief glimpse of what Batman is up to in his free time. The Batman director Matt Reeves is also stepping back into the DC Universe sooner than later with an Arkham Asylum-centered spinoff of The Batman being made for HBO Max. Batgirl is also set to make an appearance this year in her own film starring Leslie Grace. Surely, we’ll be getting a lot more of the Gotham City Police Department in these upcoming series and movies, though the cosplay Dodge Charge spied by the Redditor probably won’t be a part of that.

Of course, Batman and Gotham City are far from the only things to look forward to in the DC Extended Universe. There are two more blockbuster premieres expected to come out before the end of the year. First up, we have the Dwayne Johnson-starring Black Adam. This will be more of an anti-hero tale, as Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will go up against the Justice Society of America, which includes Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Dr. Fate. Black Adam is set to hit in October before Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives in December. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will see Zachary Levi return as Billy Batson/Shazam and is set to release in December.
