There seems to be no stopping Henry Cavill in his aim to be the greatest video game adaptation actor in the world. That is to say, there are few actors who would do a better job than Cavill in the nerd realm of live-action adaptations. He was on the glamorous red carpet premiere for The Witcher Season 2 in Madrid when he was asked about what gaming franchise he has set his eyes on next. According to Cavill, “I’ve actually started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 — I know I’m a little bit late to that party — but I started playing it and I’m really enjoying it. And so, something like that I think would be fun to turn into a movie.” A film or TV series based on either game would be incredible.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a fantastic game, but seeing Henry Cavill as the titular hero, Arthur Morgan, wouldn’t fit that well. Now, if Cavill was to sign up to play Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston, that would be the casting to see. Cavill with a beard and a southern drawl would fit a lot more than the grizzled and older-looking Arthur Morgan. Either way, his wanting to be attached to the potentiality of this video game adaptation is fantastic. Just look at what he has done for Geralt of Rivia.

Henry Cavill claimed in his interview that he is “late to the party” in regards to playing Red Dead Redemption 2, which has been out since 2018. However, he made no mention of playing the first game in the series, which arguably has a better protagonist. Either way, it seems Hollywood and the rest of the world want Cavill to head up every video game adaptation from here on out. We will all have to wait and see how Pedro Pascal does as Joel in The Last of Us series. Cavill as Geralt in The Witcher is clearly in the lead.

The red carpet interview made it evident that Henry Cavill would be quite excited to portray a cowboy, or a “Western Cavill” according to the man himself. Adding either Arthur Morgan or John Marston to his ever-growing resume that includes playing Superman, would make Cavill one of the most storied actors in all of the nerd side of pop culture. A designation that would surely be accepted by the entirety of the world. His glorious return to playing is Superman is still pending, but we’re all collectively happy to have him as Geralt, for as long as it takes all of us to binge The Witcher Season 2.

With so many adaptations under Henry Cavill’s belt, it will be interesting to see how many more parts he picks up in the near future. Chris Pratt is playing Mario, so maybe we can see Cavill play Wario. Imagine that one. The Witcher Season 2 is out now on Netflix, and hopefully, in the near future, we will all get a casting announcement for Cavill in Red Dead Redemption 2.
