The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the new Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+ is going to see some serious changes. Before you get worried, the changes we speak of are the costumes our heroes will be wearing.

Recently shared images from the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier have been popping up. Their sources? Both lead actors’ social media. Yes, Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier) have posted updated images not only from the set but images that include both actors in their new getup. Granted they are black and white photos, but much can be seen from these images.

Sebastian Stan posted a behind-the-scenes picture of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on his Instagram that shows Mackie in full gear as well as Stan as the Winter Soldier. While it’s not entirely clear that Stan is dressed as the Winter Soldier, he does look like he is in costume. Here is the image below.

As you can see, we only get a side view of both, so Mackie decided to post on his Twitter page a full frontal of his new look. He credits Stan with taking the picture and he captioned it with, “The boys are back in town! Having fun while social distancing…”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will follow our two heroes in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, that saw the demise of hero Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and the aging of Steve Rogers aka Captain America. At the end of Endgame, the elderly Cap passed along his shield to an unwilling Sam Wilson (Mackie). After a little bit of back and forth, Wilson came to accept the shield along with Bucky Barnes’s approval. This new series is set to follow the two fairly soon after these incidents.

Passing on Captain’s shield as Steve Rogers did was easy for him, but in the new series, there will be plenty of opposition. This comes not from Wilson, but our friendly U.S. Government. Seems they already had a replacement in mind and it was not Sam Wilson. Instead, they wish to pass along the shield to John Walker who, in the comics, is called U.S. Agent.

As in the comics, the government wishes to take back the Captain America name and then let Walker lead the charge in fighting crime across the globe. Of course, as the new potential Captain America, his assignments will be carefully chosen for minimal risk. Chances are that the general public will not be supportive of Sam Wilson taking over the mantel as Captain America either.

In the series, Walker will be played by Wyatt Russell (Overlord, great flick by the way). Also returning to the MCU will be Emily Van Camp as Sharon Carter and Daniel Bruhl as the villainous Baron Zemo, where he appeared in Captain America: Civil War.

Back to the new uniforms, both are similar to their previous ones with a few tweaks. An earlier toy leak gave fans the best glimpse of the Falcon’s costume that was included in the background of a Mattel’s Hot Wheels car. It can be seen below.

The series was scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in August but the COVID-19 pandemic shut down everything Hollywood related, so production on the series was on hiatus. But with production now beginning again on many films and series, a premiere date for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier should be forthcoming. At the moment, Disney+ only says it’s scheduled for a fall release.
