Netflix has been upping its true crime content lately, and the newest comes in the form of a series about one of the most infamous serial killers in history: Jeffrey Dahmer. Although Dahmer’s life has been covered before, this new series is meant to do things a bit differently. The plot of the 10-episode series will cover Dahmer’s killing spree but shown through the eyes of his victims. It will also tackle the mistakes of the police force that improperly handled Dahmer’s case, allowing him to kill many more people. The show is titled Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and features Even Peters in the titular role. Netflix has released the first teaser image of Peter in full costume, and it looks quite convincing. Although we only see the back of Evan Peters, he looks to be quite identical to how Jeffrey Dahmer looked in real life. The most recent biopic involving Dahmer’s life was the 2017 film, My Friend Dahmer. My Friend Dahmer was based on a graphic novel of the same name that was written by John “Derf” Backderf. Backderf had grown up and been friends with Dahmer in high school. Now, Peters will be taking on another version of the character but will be focusing on the killing spree where Dahmer took the lives of 17 young men and boys from 1978 to 1991.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story stars Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer. Joining him is an all-star cast that includes Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown, Colin Ford, and Richard Jenkins. Paris Barclay, Carl Franklin, and Janet Mock are handling directing duties for the series. Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan co-created the series and they both serve as executive producers. They also wrote the first four episodes, with Mock, David McMillan, Reilly Smith, and Todd Kubrak also receiving writing credits.

Evan Peters might be most known for his time portraying Quicksilver in the MCU and in the Fox-produced X-Men films. He also has spent time on American Horror Story, which is likely why he was cast as Dahmer, as Ryan Murphy is also the creator of that series. He has some deep familiarity with Peters from working together on that series. Peters has been more exclusively working on his television roles as of late.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has revealed a quick teaser, which can be seen on the Netflix app. Dahmer’s (Evan Peters) eye is the focus of the teaser, as the camera pans inward, leaving it as if the iris of his eye swallows the viewer whole. There are sounds of what could be screaming and the wails of sirens before a final click sound is heard. The teaser is likely the type of unsettling feeling that many are going to feel while watching this new true crime biopic series.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is said to debut on Netflix sometime later this year, though we have not yet been given the exact date just yet. We can presume that this new series will debut sometime in September or October, which is perfect timing. Although we have seen many iterations of Jeffrey Dahmer, we are excited to see how Evan Peters does in this role.
