Chris Hemsworth might be leaving the character of Thor behind, but he has given fans a special thank you video that includes plenty of behind-the-scenes footage.
Thor: Love and Thunder is only a bit over a week from premiering to the world, and there has been plenty of buzz about the film already. From trailers, TV spots, and images, we have all experienced the hype behind this upcoming MCU venture. However, the star of the Thor franchise, Chris Hemsworth has taken some time to thank fans for the wonderful journey he has been on these past 10 years. He celebrated that fact with a video on his Instagram, which shows some great behind-the-scenes footage throughout the years. You can see the video below:
The above caption should tug on everyone’s heartstrings, as Chris Hemsworth thanks fans for still showing that Thor is worthy. That is, of course, a nod to the character being worthy to wield Mjolnir. That might also be the subject of the next, as we know Janes Foster takes over the role of The Mighty Thor. However, the above video is chock full of moments that should also bring out the emotions, especially footage of Hemsworth being selected as Thor. Those classic moments are some that may have been forgotten considering Thor has been in the MCU for over a decade. The above video serves as a mini documentary that even involves Kevin Feige and a screen test from Hemsworth’s audition.
One thing that we might surmise from the above video is that this could be Chris Hemsworth thanking fans as he is going to step away from the character after Thor: Love and Thunder. This is wild speculation, and likely not true, but it would be a nice gesture if that were to happen. Most of the original Avengers team have been killed off in movies, leaving Hemsworth mostly alone. Only Hawkeye and Hulk remain. However, both of those characters are busy with their own shows, so this new phase of Marvel films will likely carry on without them. Also, it would make sense for Thor to be moving on considering he is not wielding Mjolnir in the trailers.
Thor: Love and Thunder boasts one of the biggest casts in any MCU film. The massive cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Christian Bale, and Russel Crowe. There might even be some huge surprises that we don’t know about in the form of huge cameos during the film or the post-credit scenes. We are more than excited to see where this film takes the MCU.
Thor: Love and Thunder opens on July 8th, and we can finally understand why Chris Hemsworth is no longer worthy, rather see why Thor is no longer worthy. The film is jam-packed with fantastic actors, and we are going to be treated to a likely fun film. Taiki Waititi knows his way around excitable movies, as was the case with Thor: Ragnarok. If this is the film that sees Hemsworth say goodbye to the Thor character, at least we can watch the above video for some post-film tears.
