Brendan Fraser is currently heavily involved in his big Hollywood comeback. That comeback involves being the villain known as Firefly, for the upcoming Batgirl film. Being involved in any kind of comic book property these days equates to a huge career move. While there is a great deal of excitement behind Fraser taking on a villainous role, there have been no updates as of yet to how he looks in costume. However, a behind-the-scenes photo has dropped on Twitter, showing off the Firefly costume. While Fraser is not in the costume, it’s still exciting. You can see the photo below:

While it would be more exciting to see Brendan Fraser in the Firefly costume, it’s still interesting to see what he is potentially going to look like. The above photo is likely a stuntman or a stunt double in the suit. Fans were excited after they learned that former Mummy star landed another role within the DC universe. Fraser has been lauded for his role in the DC show, Doom Patrol, where he plays Cliff Steele. While he is clearly a hero in that story, he is now switching gears to terrorize Barbara Gordon and her father Jim Gordon in the Batman spin-off film.

Garfield Lynns aka Firefly is a long-standing villain in the Batman mythos. He first appeared in Detective Comics #184 way back in June of 1952. Since then, there have been quite a few iterations of the character shown in comics, TV, video games, and now a movie. While the initial character was introduced as a criminal who used lighting to his advantage when committing crimes, he was reimagined as a sociopathic pyromaniac with a proclivity for setting things ablaze. The more psychotic version of the villain is the one in which Brendan Fraser is set to play in Batgirl.

While there have been behind-the-scenes videos captured on set, this is the first time in which the Firefly costume has been shown. Firefly is usually in an all-black suit complete with some sort of flame thrower device and a way to fly. From the picture posted on Twitter, it looks as if there are variations of the villain’s costume being used. The silver and black combination is certainly eye-catching. While it hasn’t been revealed if this iteration will fly, that would be amazing. Again, Brendan Fraser is not in the costume, but that should be shown soon. The film is currently being shot in Glasgow, and the hope is that we are going to see a trailer sometime soon, especially considering Batgirl is headed for a 2022 release on HBO Max.

Batgirl stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman. This is surely a fantastic cast, and we all get to see the return of Keaton to the Batman universe. Simmons, Fraser, and Keaton all in one film are certainly going to be a treat for everyone concerned. Even more awesome is seeing Fraser take on the role of a villain when most of his career he has been a good guy.
