Baywatch is getting a remake, this time as a streaming series.

Now, nearly six years after the film adaptation starring Dwayne Johnson wiped out at the box office, the series is poised to return to the small screen. According to Deadline, British multinational television production and distribution company, Fremantle, has been developing a reboot of the classic show.
Although the details surrounding the upcoming reboot are currently scarce, Freemantle has reportedly engaged in discussions with various broadcasters and streaming platforms. The new version of Baywatch is expected to bring a fresh take on the classic show, featuring new faces and storylines. Fremantle hopes to find the perfect team of creatives to bring the highly anticipated project to life.
While Baywatch is one of the most iconic television series of all time, few people know that it was initially canceled by NBC after just one season due to poor ratings. However, the show’s creators and producers bought back the rights and produced a syndicated version in collaboration with All American Television. With the help of financing from German distributor Beta Taurus, which was part of the Kirch group in Germany, as well as ITV, the producers were able to bring their vision to fruition.
