It’s so easy to dial up your favorite series on a streaming platform in 2023, but sometimes it’s simply better to own the physical version of a series so you can watch it forever. In many ways, it feels like we’re just renting our content and have to play a rousing game of streaming musical chairs as shows get bumped from one platform to another. In the case of Babylon 5, however, fans will be thrilled to know that the entire series will be available in one place that’s a little more permanent in the form of a complete series box set on Blu-ray on December 5, 2023, according to Temple of Geek.

For the first time, the complete series of Babylon 5, including the pilot tv movie, will be available on Blu-Ray.

The Babylon 5: The Complete Series will be released by Warner Bros. Discovery to celebrate the iconic series’ 30th anniversary. Not only will this upcoming release mark the first time that the series is available on Blu-ray, but all 110 episodes will be fully remastered in HD, and the packaging will also include The Gathering, the pilot movie that kicked off the entire series.

If the $100 price tag is making you reconsider pre-ordering your own set, remember that it’s a small price to pay if it means that you can own the entire series outright.

Think about it. Most premium streaming services will run you $20 a month, and they mostly boast a disappointing lack of Babylon 5. In other words, after five months, this investment will basically have paid for itself if you’re a die-hard fan, and then you can gently fall asleep to the menu music on your Blu-ray player every night in perpetuity.

Babylon 5 is considered by many science-fiction fans to be one of the best space operas ever committed to film, and for good reason. Not only did Babylon 5 introduce viewers to a stunningly cohesive five-year story arc, but it delivered intricate storytelling, complex characters, and an overarching narrative that highlights the diplomatic conflicts that take place on the Babylon 5 space station.

Babylon 5: The Road Home finally brings fans back to the legendary space station in an animated sequel that picks up right where the show left off.

If owning the entire Babylon 5 series on Blu-ray isn’t enough excitement for you, then you’ll be thrilled to know that the J. Michael Straczynski-produced Babylon 5: The Road Home animated film is slated for release on Blu-ray, 4K, and video on demand by Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment on August 15.

The Road Home will pick up where the original Babylon 5 series left off and involve John Sheridan’s journey through time, space, and alternate realities as he uncovers new mysteries about the universe. Though this upcoming Babylon 5 film is entirely CGI animated, it is a canonical continuation to the 1994 live-action television series.

J. Michael Straczynski is hosting a Q and A panel at San Diego Comic-Con and multiple screenings for Babylon 5: The Road Home, as long-time fans are finally getting nearly everything they’ve wanted.

The movie even features voice-acting from Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins, and Patricia Tallman from the original Babylon 5 cast.

And if you’re in the San Diego area this weekend, then you’d be thrilled to know that J. Michael Straczynski will be participating in a Q and A panel on July 22 after Babylon 5: The Road Homes premiere at San Diego Comic-Con.
