Miley Cyrus recently posted about a near-death experience via her Instagram page. She also reminded us all why plane travel can be one of the most frightening experiences. While traveling via an airplane is truly the fastest way to get around the world, things like storms can throw a wrench into the safety of flying. That was certainly the case for Miley as her plane had to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning. She posted a video of her plane going through a storm and a pic that shows the damage that was caused when lightning struck what appears to be a wing of the plane. You can see the video and image below:

The quick video shows a lightning strike on the plane and everyone, including Miley Cyrus, lets out a gasp. That would certainly be the right reaction considering the massive flutter of light that emits from the lightning strike. What is even scarier about this occurrence is the damage that one strike caused to the plane. The next image that was a part of the same post shows a deep chunk of the plane missing. The lightning strike melted the metal of the wing and caused a significant amount of damage. There are burn marks around the edges of the crater the lightning left as well. One thing to note is how damaging and hot lightning is. The metal around the part where it struck was completely melted. All it took was a quick hit and instantly heated the metal enough to melt it completely. Now that is scary.

Miley Cyrus was currently doing a run of shows in South America before having to make an emergency landing. Per her caption on the posted video and image, she was not able to make the show in Paraguay, which was scheduled to happen today. Miley was supposed to be part of the Asuncionico Festival but has since canceled her appearance. Though that might be terrible news for those who were waiting to see her live, her plane being struck by lightning is a sure-fire way to derail someone from making an appearance. She also updated everyone via the caption on her post, which states that all the band, crew, family, and friends onboard the plane are all safe and sound. She wrote that they were not able to fly into Paraguay with a broken heart emoji. This could signify that she will not be making it to the festival at all.

Miley Cyrus is also set to appear at Lollapalooza Brasil, on March 26th, though it has not been confirmed by herself or her representation. Living through such a near-death experience might be one of those moments where it would be ok to cancel commitments and breathe a sigh of relief. Plane travel happenings like this are known to scar people, and we would all certainly be scared out of our wits if we had to experience such a horrifying situation. We are glad that all of the crew and people on board that plane are doing fine, though they all might need some therapy now.
