McDonald’s Wins Best New Fast Food Item Of The Year

By Robert Scucci | Published

McDonald’s has won the Sixth Annual Steamie Awards as presented by Bill Oakley and John Hodgman of the Judge John Hodgman podcast. Though this isn’t necessarily an official ranking by any stretch of the imagination, it’s worth noting that Bill Oakley is the founder of the Steamed Hams Society, and takes these rankings quite seriously every single year.

Sixth Annual Steamie Awards

Just last week, it was revealed to Oakley’s Instagram followers that McDonald’s limited edition Mambo Sauce has secured first place in the New Fast Food Item category, absolutely obliterating the competition.

McDonald’s Mambo Sauce

It’s hard to believe that the now-discontinued McDonald’s condiment dominated the Steamie circuit. But if you’ve had the pleasure of dipping a McNugget into tangy, spicy, and vinegary tomato based sauce, you’d have trouble arguing with the results.

Much to the dismay of rabid Rick and Morty fans, the Steamies have spoken, and it’s apparent that Mcdonald’s Szechuan Sauce has officially become a relic of the past.

Wendy’s Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger

Coming in second place to McDonald’s is Wendy’s with their Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger. And based on the picture alone, we can’t argue with its runner-up status.

The sandwich looks absolutely delicious, but there’s absolutely no way you could eat that thing in your car without then having to fork over some serious cash to get a premium interior detail after leaking its contents onto the upholstery.

Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Beef ‘n Briskit Sandwich

Arby’s was also a worthy contender with their King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Beef ‘n Briskit Sandwich. The iconic purveyors of all the meats clinched the second runner-up position for unleashing such an ambitious marvel of unwholesome gastronomy upon us. But at the end of the day, the Golden Arches of victory can only lead you to one place, and that’s the almighty McDonald’s.

Bill Oakley And The Simpsons

And if you’re questioning either Judge John Hodgman’s or Bill Oakley’s authority on the matter, we strongly suggest you try to locate a packet of the McDonald’s sauce and give it a taste for yourself.

You may still disagree with the final results, but without participating in an extensive objective analysis of your own, it’s best that you leave this level of ranking to the pros.

Aside from reviewing McDonald’s and other fast food titans, Bill Oakley is a self-proclaimed food enthusiast and influencer. But his real claim to fame is writing the script for the iconic “Unforgettable Luncheon” skit which could be found deep within season 7 of The Simpsons.

Airing for the first time nearly 30 years ago, any die-hard Simpsons fan will tell you that Principal Skinner was an absolute fool to try passing off a platter of Krusty Burgers (which are obviously grilled) as a culinary creation of his own to impress Superintendent Chalmers.

Other Steamie Award Categories

Other Steamie categories include Disappointment of the Year, Pickle of the Year, Dip or Spread of the Year, and Condiment of the Year.

Bill Oakley’s Instagram account also contains extensive coverage of the McDonald’s corporate headquarters in Chicago.

If you’re willing to take an adventurous deep-dive into the world of the Steamies, you’ll find yourself quickly getting lost in the sauce and running to the nearest fast food chain to compare notes.
