Kristen Stewart capped the Berlin International Film Festival with a head-turning fashion statement. The Underwater actress and Jury President of the 2023 Berlinale appeared at the festival’s final ceremony to cap off a week of eye-popping fashion with a black, sheer Chanel dress with nothing underneath but a pair of high-waisted underwear.

The sheer dress was accented by tweed stitching and pockets placed conveniently over Stewart’s chest to cover her bra-less bust. To accompany the gown, Kristen Stewart sported a jagged mullet haircut and striking rust-colored eyeshadow. The filmmaker stepped into the Berlinale Golden Bear ceremony as the queen of grunge-chic.

Kristen Stewart has been a fashion rebel for many years, and her reputation was held up at Berlinale. The actress has donned several striking outfits over the course of the festival, but her final look topped them all.

When Kristen Stewart was appointed as the Berlinale Jury President, she was in shock. During a press conference at the start of the festival, Stewart said the call surprised her, and despite her nerves, she was excited and honored to experience the amazing lineup of films at the prestigious festival.

As reported by Variety, Kristen Stewart also used the platform to highlight her optimism about the future of movies. The actress proclaimed that movies are not dying, as many industry insiders predict, only evolving. “[T]here’s a sort of like vital, desperate need in all of us to create something,” Stewart said, adding that the creative instinct will never go away.

The press also created an awkward moment for Kristen Stewart when they put her on the spot, asking her to name some of her favorite international filmmakers. She faltered, calling herself a ‘loser’ for not having a list of film greats ready to go for the press. Instead, she turned the focus toward the filmmakers at the event and expressed her excitement about diving into their filmographies.

The festival screened high-caliber films from across the world, like Disney’s Mafia movie. Berlinale’s top prize, the Golden Bear, was awarded to the French documentary film On the Adamant. The film examines a day center in Paris de jour L’Adamant that provides care to adults with mental disabilities.

Kristen Stewart is an experienced actress who has starred in films across the budget spectrum. She commented that her responsibilities at Berlinale afforded her an opportunity to discuss her greatest passion, movies, outside of the context of making or promoting one. That won’t last for long, though, as Kristen Stewart has a busy schedule ahead of her.

She will star in two upcoming films, Love Me and Love Lies Bleeding. Kristen Stewart is also in pre-production for her feature film directorial debut, The Chronology of Water. Starring Imogen Poots, the film will adapt the memoir of an author navigating her bisexuality, addiction, and position on a political conflict in the Middle East.

The career of Kristen Stewart has been an exciting and diverse affair. When she skyrocketed to fame for her role in the Twilight films, many questioned Stewart’s ability and charisma as an actor. Since then, she has broken free from the franchise and crafted a simultaneously rebellious and respectable reputation for herself as a filmmaker, dedicated to a craft that, according to her, will never die.
