We all know actor Paul Rudd for the many fun movies he has been involved in. He has been seen in films such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, This is 40, and a few different times as Marvel’s Ant-Man. While his professional life has been well documented, his personal life has been less so. You may not know this, but Rudd has been married for almost 20 years and has two children, a boy and a girl, the latter being Rudd’s daughter, Darby Rudd.

Darby Rudd was born to actor Paul Rudd and his wife of nearly 20 years, Julie Yaeger, in 2010 in New York City. There is no exact birth date for Darby, but we do know Paul Rudd’s youngest is 12 years old.
Although Paul Rudd spends much of his time traveling and on movie sets, young Darby spends most of her days in the historic town of Rhinebeck, New York, where the Rudds make their permanent home.
Smartly, the Rudds have not shared what school Darby attends but given her age, she is either in the sixth or seventh grade. So far, Darby Rudd has not shown the desire to follow in her famous father’s acting footsteps, though she was given a special thanks in the 2017 feature film, Fun Mom Dinner. Her father appeared in a cameo in the movie while her mother penned the screenplay.
Beyond that, the only time Darby Rudd makes her presence known in Hollywood is when she is with her father or family on the red-carpet premiere of one of his movies.
Seven years ago, Darby Rudd was present when her father received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The whole family attended that well-deserved accolade for Paul Rudd, including Darby’s brother Jack.

Darby Rudd’s brother is five years her elder. Jack, now 17 years old, was born in 2006 and is not afraid to mix it up a little bit with his father, giving him a hard time when Paul Rudd accepted the role of Scott Lang in Ant-Man. Rudd was talking with Entertainment Tonight when he explained his son’s reaction.
“When I told my own son that I was going to be in a superhero movie, he asked what it was,” Rudd recalled. “I said, ‘We’ll I’ll be playing Ant-Man.’ He said, ‘What?’ He was not that impressed.”
Then the senior Rudd told ET exactly what his son had said to him. “What he actually said was ‘wow I can’t wait to see how stupid that’ll be.'” Jack was 9 years old at the time.
DARBY RUDD IS HER DAD’S ANT-MAN INSPIRATION
Paul Rudd joined the MCU in 2015 with Marvel’s Ant-Man, when Darby Rudd was only 5 years old. Paul wasn’t sure how his daughter would take to him playing the father to a young girl on film but apparently, Darby’s reaction was much better than he thought it was going to be. He spoke about it after the second film in the Ant-Man series, Ant-Man and the Wasp, was released in 2018.
“As far as my character doing a scene with a girl [Abby Ryder Fortson] playing my daughter[Cassie], it’s not far off,” Paul Rudd said via JaMonkey. “My daughter [Darby] is a little bit younger but not much. And those kinds of scenes are accessible to me because I’ve been in them, I know what that’s like. And I also- it’s one of my favorite things because I share that with my own daughter. And she loves it. At first, when she was very young, I used to think, is it going to be weird.”
“When my daughter is old enough,” he continued, “and she sees this movie, that she’s going to see me playing dad to a little girl. And instead, it’s the opposite. I think she really loves it, because I tell her, you know, you’re the real Cassie.” The group Rudd was speaking to at the time erupted with an overwhelming “Awwwww,” to which Rudd responded, “I know- and I do little things in the movie that are little things for her.”

Speaking of Darby Rudd’s father, what more do we know about him? The popular comedic actor is 53 years old now and continues to enjoy his feature film and television career, one that started 30 years ago.
He has been seen on TV series such as Sisters, Friends, Reno 911, Living With Yourself, and The Shrink Next Door, but is better known for his feature film library that includes the aforementioned Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You, Man, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and all the films in the MCU that included his Ant-Man character.
Since 2014, Paul Rudd has been a business owner and it is one that surely makes Darby Rudd happy. Rudd has been co-owners with The Walking Dead star, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, of Samuel’s Sweet Shop, a candy shop that is located in Rhinebeck, New York.
Darby Rudd’s mom is Julie Yaeger. Darby’s parents met shortly after Paul filmed the movie Clueless in 1995. Paul had gone into his publicist’s office, and it was there that Julie was working. Since that time, the pair have been virtually inseparable. Julie married the “sexist man alive” in 2003, and had Jack three years later, and Darby four years after that.
Julie has worn several hats throughout her professional career. She started as a publicist and from there she was a producer and a screenwriter. Other than her forays into Hollywood, Yaeger helps Paul and Dean Morgan out with Samuel’s Sweet Shop.
Thankfully, there isn’t much information out there about Darby Rudd. This means her parents are doing all they can to let her and her older brother, Jack, live as normal of a childhood as possible. Who knows where the future may take Darby, but with both her parents in the film and television industry, it wouldn’t be a shock if that is the direction she goes in.
