Best Fast Food Options For Vegetarians

It used to be that a stop at a fast food chain meant grabbing a burger and fries. Simple and done. But those days are long gone and now chains offer all manner of menu options, catering to nearly every tastebud and diet.

When it comes to vegetarian options on fast food menus, we’ve seen quite a bit of growth there as well. Now, most major chains offer solid choices on their menu for this diet, or if you want a change a pace. Let’s take a look at some of the best vegetarian menu additions going.

Chipotle- Veggie Burrito Bowl

Chipotle has become one of the go-to stops for vegetarian options mostly because of the fresher ingredients and the ability to pile burritos and bowls with all manner of solid options. The Veggie Burrito Bowl is a strong menu addition for this place, giving customers cilantro-lime rice or salad, topped with black beans, fajita vegetables, salsa, guacamole, and cheese or sour cream.

Carl's Jr - Beyond Famous Star

Through a partnership with Beyond Meat, Carl’s Jr. has the Beyond Famous Star which replaces some of the chain’s burger options for the vegetarian crowd. The Beyond Meat patty has the typical burger additions with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and special sauce on a sesame seed bun. Working with one of the better brands in this industry helps make this a very good menu choice.

Burger King - Mushroom Veggie Burger

Burger King goes a bit off board here with their Mushroom Veggie Burger, offering something a bit different than most other chains. The mushroom patty texture might not be for everyone, but the taste is there and it’s topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles.

Taco Bell - Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme

There’s something about this style of food that just lends itself to solid vegetarian options and the Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme is case in point. There’s a bean patty on a crispy tostada shell with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and sauce wrapped in a warm tortilla. Taco Bell layers textures really well on the menu and you might not even notice there’s no meat in this thing.

McDonald's - Spicy Veggie Wrap

This is another slightly different fast food option from McDonald’s which has performed well on their menu. Spicy Veggie Wrap adds a veggie patty with lettuce, cucumber, grated cheese, and a spicy sauce and wraps it all in a soft tortilla. From a taste perspective, this is decidedly different than other Golden Arches choices, but lunch crowd can get on board for sure.

Panera Bread - Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich

It’s almost wrong to call Panera “fast food” by some strict definitions, but we’ll put it on here because they definitely do the vegetarian menu right. The Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich is among the best sandwiches out there from any chain and combines feta cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and an herb vinaigrette on freshly baked bread. It’s satisfying and tasty.

Shake Shack - Veggie Shack

The Veggie Shack has earned Shake Shack rave reviews since adding this to their menu and it’s quickly become one of the best vegetarian fast food menu options around. This comes in a couple of different varieties but has patties made from mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, farro, and quinoa. Then on top, there is cheese, pickles, and fried onions. Add in the Shake Shack sauce and you have the best vegetarian fast food menu option going.
