Riddick is gearing up for San Diego Comic-Con next month. From an event exclusive poster, and a tight-lipped hint that star Vin Diesel might possibly, at some point, perhaps attend, the third installment in the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy is going to be all over the place. Surely there will be some cool new looks at the film coming out of that event, but until then there is a new international trailer to pour over. And it’s a pretty good time.

This chapter in the saga of the titular space outlaw finds Riddick stranded on a sun-bleached planet infested with big-ass monsters. His only avenue of escape is to alert a posse of bounty hunters to his presence. Most of this latest video is taken up by those two elements, fighting hazardous creatures, and dealing with equally dangerous human foes. As with the previous trailer, this one is wall-to-wall action, though it takes a moment to have a funny bit with Katee Sackhoff, and to make sure Riddick keeps his promise to kill someone.

It does look like Riddick isn’t completely alone before the arrival of the bounty hunters. He has something that resembles a space dog, proving once again that even the most grizzled badass needs a companion. Near the end he also has what appears to be a space chopper, because, if you couldn’t tell already, he’s super macho.

The way Riddick is chained up in front of all the bounty hunters is reminiscent of how we see him early on in Pitch Black. If you remember, he’s been captured and dislocates both of his shoulders in order to escape. Most of us would probably give up at that point, but that’s what makes him Riddick. He can escape from anywhere, that’s kind of his thing.

Riddick opens September 6, and also stars Karl Urban, Jordi Molla, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, and some other beefy dudes.
