Indiana Jones/Prometheus Mash-up Trailer Combines Two Ill-Fated Expeditions

If you think about it, Prometheus and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull have quite a lot in common. Both concern a hunt for ancient, mysterious beings who seem to have left clues behind as an invitation for us to follow. Both involve a legendary filmmaker returning to a fictional universe they helped create. Both were disappointments to many of their devout fans. And both made me want to stick a broken bottle in Shia LeBeouf’s neck. (He doesn’t have anything to do with Prometheus, so that urge may just be about me.)

YouTuber Justin Fields previously spliced together footage from the Back to the Future films with audio from the epic six-minute Cloud Atlas trailer, to decidedly good effect. This time around, he’s exploring Crystal Skull and Prometheus‘ overlapping points by combining the audio from the badass Prometheus trailer with visuals from the fourth Indiana Jones outing. The results, we think you’ll agree, are pretty damn spectacular. Kudos to Jones for his scene selections, making sure the visuals sync up thematically to the Prometheus dialogue, as well as the audio’s pace and rhythm. Quite frankly, this unholy bastard child may be more entertaining than either Crystal Skull or Prometheus are individually. It kind of makes me wish Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas had teamed up for the batshit-crazy Indy/Alien crossover this mash-up teases. It would have been a trainwreck, oh yes…but what a glorious trainwreck.

And just to refresh your memory, here’s the Prometheus trailer for comparison.
