Star Wars Flash Mob Orchestra Is Strong In The Force

In many ways, our present is a really disappointing future when viewed through the eyes of our 10-year-old selves. We’ve got no flying cars. No jetpacks. No moon bases or holodecks or faster-than-light travel. On the other hand, we do regularly carry around handheld devices that are many orders of magnitude more powerful than the computers that allowed us to travel to the moon and back. So while I may not be writing this from a posh, climate-controlled condo on the surface of Mars, we can at least take comfort in the fact that we have the technology to stage a flash mob where a crowd of pedestrians is surprised by the sudden appearance of an orchestra playing John Williams’ Star Wars theme.

My German is a bit rusty, but I believe we can trace the flash mob back to this symphony orchestra from the city of Cologne. Props to the group for brightening up the shoppers’ day with a musical surprise. It’s the best Star Wars-related surprise since Han decided to turn around and save Luke’s bacon above the Death Star.

All you flash mobbers out there? The bar has been raised.
