First Look At Shaun Of The Dead In Phineas And Ferb

Every time the credits roll for Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead, it’s some of the saddest minutes in cinema, as we have to live with the fact that we’ll never see Shaun and Ed have new adventures. But wait, the hit animated series Phineas and Ferb has quasi-resurrected the duo for an upcoming episode, and we have the first look at the zombie bashers in full cartoon glory.
The episode, called “Night of the Living Pharmacists,” is inspired (believe it or not) by Night of the Living Dead, and centers on the vaguely evil Dr. Doofenschmirtz’s latest invention, which accidentally turns almost the entire population of Danville into braindead Doof-zombies who are able to pass on their wide-eyed plague just by touching others. You’d think that having more pharmacists in the world wouldn’t be a bad thing, but these guys are only prescribing…pain? I’m not quite sure what they’re doing.
I wonder if this scene is the only one that Pegg and Frost are in, as they have one of their signature back-and-forths over the concept of clothes being alive and able to be infected. It ends with both of them turning into Doof-zombies, though they’ll hopefully be back by the end of the episode when everything turns out for the best.
While it seems a little odd that this foul-mouthed, Batman soundtrack-throwing, weed-smoking, beer-guzzling pair would be major guest stars on a Disney Channel series, I think we can all agree that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost appeal to all ages, regardless of their beer intake. And Phineas and Ferb is one of the rare cartoons with randomly bizarre humor that also pleases adults just as much as kids.
Other guest stars for the episode include the Zombie Godfather himself, the Living Dead franchise director George R. Romero, who will play a reporter. Noah Wylie (Falling Skies) and Bella Thorne (Blended) will also appear, while we’ll get return appearances from Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) as Mrs. Feyersied and Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as Fireside Girl.
This isn’t even the only sci-fi Phineas and Ferb special that this fall has to offer. On Monday, Disney aired a Lost-inspired episode written by Damon Lindelof. Check out a clip from the episode below.
