It seems like the only types of movies Tom Cruise stars in these days are action-heavy or science fiction films. Whether it be Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Jack Reacher, or the upcoming Oblivion, Cruise obviously likes to be front and center, preferably running away from an explosion of some sort. Tom Cruise is currently in the middle of production for Warner Bros.’ film adaptation of All You Need Is Kill. Now some new shots from the shoot have found their way online, featuring the 50-year-old actor with his co-star, Emily Blunt.
An adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s best-selling Japanese manga, All You Need Is Kill wound up on the so-called “Black List” of the best unproduced screenplays back in 2010. In addition to Cruise, the new film also features Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau), Charlotte Riley, Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Doug Liman (Jumper, The Bourne Identity) is directing All You Need Is Kill, which is based on screenwriter Dante Harper’s script. From the look of one of those photos, we’re guessing Blunt’s character doesn’t always get along with Cruise’s.
Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s manga follows a solider, Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise), who is killed in battle during a future war. He inexplicably wakes up from death, only to relive the deadly battle. He begins to live a more-serious version of Groundhog Day, trapped in a time loop of death and resurrection and so on. Each time he lives again, he tries to change his circumstances so he can avoid his fate.
All You Need Is Kill will hit theaters everywhere on March 14, 2014.
