In the wake of the Nickelodeon Super Smash Bros clone, there is another that is set to make its way onto the gaming scene. Warner Bros is teaming together some of the best characters from across the company’s lineup for a brand-new all-out brawl fighting game, MultiVersus. The new fighting game has also released the first cinematic trailer which features fighting between some of the best characters like Batman, Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, and Taz. The cartoon mayhem is evident until we get The Last Son of Krypton flying in to save the day, Superman. He is also joined by The Iron Giant who has a giant “S” on his chest to signify a team-up. You can see the trailer below:

The jam-packed character-filled trailer offers up some of the best looks at the lineup that will be provided when the game is released. Including a Super Saiyan version of Shaggy who goes berserk when he loses his sandwich. For anyone who happens to be a fan of Scooby-Doo, you know no one messed with Shaggy’s sandwiches, or they will pay the ultimate price. The format of the game is that of Super Smash Bros, with a slight twist. Players will engage in a 2v2 brawl, which is likely why each character seems to have a buddy in the trailer. The fact that Superman and the Iron Giant were made a team in the trailer is just unfair. They are both seemingly unstoppable. Well, unless you count on Shaggy losing his sandwich.

MultiVersus is going to a much different route than its predecessors, as it is going to be a completely free-to-play venture. There are going to be dedicated servers that promise “rollback netcode and content-filled seasons.” This is just a fancy way of saying that the game is going to have servers that will focus on a game experience that is enjoyable for everyone involved. Plus, what could be more fun than using Superman to beat up Bugs Bunny? The game is being developed by Warner Bros Games and Player First Games. The plan is to have an open beta release in July. Fans who want to experience the game first can sign up for the closed beta that will take place between May 19 to the 27. The sign-up is available on the MultiVersus website.

MultiVersus is another game in the lineup of character-based fighting games that joins the ranks with Super Smash Bros, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and the failed PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. What makes this new fighting venture different from the rest of the competition is that it is free-to-play. That is a huge designation in comparison. Next is the 2v2 format, which might go over well, or be shunned by those who want the traditional four-player free for all formats. Those modes will likely be added should this 2v2 format not work out as intended. Superman might be too powerful with any other teammate. Because, c’mon, he’s Superman.

MultiVersus boasts a massive lineup that includes Superman, Batman, Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, Shaggy, Garnet from Steven Universe, and Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. Also, we got to see Taz, the Iron Giant, Shaggy, Jake from Adventure Time, and Harley Quinn. Although the game is against some stiff competition, it could be the one that breaks through to battle Super Smash Bros. Check out the open beta when it launches in July. MultiVersus will be available free-to-play for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
