Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead might be as dead as the zombies the show revolves around. As reported by ComicBook.com the popular anime has been put on indefinite hiatus following several production issues. The series, which is no stranger to delays, still has three episodes left in its inaugural season.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead has gone on indefinite hiatus due to production issues.

Whether fans will ever get to see those final three episodes is uncertain. The series has no concrete return date, and it’s entirely possible that the first season may never see a resolution. Zom 100 has struggled with production issues weekly, starting with the fourth episode and leading all the way up to this series’ current shutdown.

Bug Films, the company behind Zom 100, has yet to give a definitive answer as to why the show has been put on hiatus. The series began airing on TV in Japan and on Hulu, Netflix, and Crunchyroll everywhere else in early July. Subsequent episodes were scheduled to hit the streamers weekly—but realistically became available whenever Bug was able to get them out.

Zom 100 follows Akira Tendo, a 24-year-old workaholic who one day finds himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse in modern-day Japan. Rather than let the collapse of society get him down, Akira actually uses the fact that he doesn’t have to go to work anymore to motivate him to make a bucket list of things to do before he inevitably becomes zombie chow. Ironically, for Akira Tendo, life doesn’t start until the world ends.

Zom 100 fans eager to continue past the nine episodes currently streaming on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Netflix can pick up one of the 15 volumes currently available of the Zom 100 manga and continue Akira’s adventures on the page.

The series, like most Anime, is based on a manga of the same name. Unlike its animated counterpart, the Zom 100 comic is still being produced on a regular basis and has been since 2018. That means that should the anime never resume production, at least fans won’t have to guess where the story goes.

For those fans who absolutely have to have their Zom 100 fix, there’s also the live-action film version streaming on Netflix.

Of course, some fans prefer full-color animation to the static black-and-white images found in the pages of most manga, and the comic book version of Zom 100 can’t completely replace the kinetic pace of the anime. Hopefully, Bug Films will get their act together before fans lose interest in Zom 100 altogether.

With new anime popping up on streaming every day and a new season of FLCL set to air soon, fans of the medium have no shortage of content to keep them busy while Zom 100 is on hiatus. Of course, for die-hard fans, a wealth of alternative content may not be that much of a comfort, especially when they can’t have the one anime that they really want.

For those fans who absolutely have to have their Zom 100 fix, there’s also the live-action film version streaming on Netflix. While the movie version of Akira Tendo’s quest to live life to the fullest during armageddon isn’t as well regarded as the manga and anime versions of the story, it’s still better than nothing.
