The Suicide Squad is releasing on August 5, 2021. That’s only in a few weeks. Some lucky folks have already gotten their first viewing of this movie, and they are reacting in huge ways. Let’s take a look and get an idea of what you can expect from this next DC film.

One very big theme has emerged from The Suicide Squad reactions: James Gunn works hard for that R-rating. He deserved it. He needed it. They meant it when they gave it to this movie. Embrace the full meaning of an R-rating, because James Gunn certainly has with this film.

The Suicide Squad is promising big, action-packed violence. These early viewers say it delivers.

Some of us are bound to go into The Suicide Squad expecting to like it. The trailer is awesome. James Gunn made Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel and that was awesome. Margot Robbie is back as Harley Quinn, which is as good enough of a reason as any to believe that this movie is going to be worth the time to watch it. However, still, there remain people who are unimpressed. Among them, are people who did actually get the chance to see this movie early. And the result? Well, “this skeptic loved” it.

Apparently, The Suicide Squad isn’t going to just be all R-rated gore and inappropriate jokes. As much as those things are promised, early-viewers also say it has a surprising amount of heart.

King Shark has all the makings of a James Gunn favorite character, so it’s promising to hear that this character stood out. They wouldn’t get Sylvester Stallone to voice the character if it wasn’t worth contacting a legend, right? It sounds like everyone is going to have their own favorite The Suicide Squad character, which is a special kind of movie.

One of the big feelings you get from these reactions is that whether the viewer expected to like The Suicide Squad, expected to hate it, or went in not really caring, they seemed to come away a little awestruck.

With the pandemic lockdowns pretty much stopping the release of big-budget films in 2020, it has been a while since many audiences have had a movie to get extremely excited about. Then, marketing materials for The Suicide Squad began releasing. Some have been skeptical about this film. There have been a number of DC films that didn’t hit well with audiences. Suicide Squad was one of them. However, everything that’s coming out about this new film makes it hard to really call it a sequel, though some still do. This movie sounds like something else, something special, something extremely James Gunn, and something that fans are daring to get excited about.

The Suicide Squad releases in theaters and on HBO Max August 5, 2021. The movie will be available to watch on HBO Max for 30 days and can be watched with a regular subscription to the service. You can expect Twitter to lose its mind once it’s out.
